Psychodynamic, client-centered clinicians and trained therapists utilize a holistic approach that prioritizes the well-being of the individual’s mind, body, and spirit. This is accomplished through various methods such as yoga, reiki, harp therapy, dream work, shadow work, and unconventional approaches that address the root causes of addiction. Our team also focuses on family systems, codependency, trauma, and inner child work to help clients detach from shame and uncover the origins of their low self-esteem or self-worth. At Akua, we strive to model a functional and healthy family dynamic for our clients. Our staff is carefully selected for their ability to create an environment of healing and compassion. We assist clients in running a healthy AA/12-step program by facilitating their understanding of how the absence of these principles contributes to their illness. To ensure personalized attention and effective treatment, we keep our therapy groups small and process-oriented, rather than have a large group of 20-30 individuals.
ABOUT MEN’s MAHALO DETOX TREATMENT
Mahalo is a state-licensed and Joint Commission accredited detox facility for men who are struggling with addiction to substances such as heroin, meth, Vicodin, and others. Mahalo is a program offered by Akua, a reputable drug and alcohol addiction treatment facility located in Southern California.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The detox process at Mahalo is specifically designed for men and consists of three distinct phases: evaluation, stabilization, and continuing care. During the evaluation phase, men undergo a comprehensive assessment to determine the severity of their substance abuse as well as any co-occurring mental health disorders. The next phase, stabilization, involves the use of medication and psychosocial interventions to facilitate a safe and steady withdrawal. After stabilization, each individual collaborates with their counselor to determine the most appropriate next step, whether it is residential treatment, intensive outpatient care (IOP), or traditional outpatient care. Additional therapy options include trauma and music therapy.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Mahalo is overseen by a licensed vocational nurse who possesses clinical experience in various areas including psychiatric, surgical, and pediatric fields.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
During their stay at Mahalo, men are accommodated in spacious shared rooms that feature simple yet pleasant décor and high ceilings. Depending on their energy levels, individuals in detox can engage in activities such as yoga or mindfulness practice. If weather permits, they can also enjoy the outdoor pool. Additionally, a private chef prepares daily meals that prioritize brain health.
