ABOUT MFI RECOVERY CENTER – LA VISTA RECOVERY AND WELLNESS CENTER
Established in 1972, MFI Recovery Center is a non-profit organization that provides a full continuum of treatment services for adults, women with children, and adolescents. Treatment is available for individuals who are struggling with chemical dependency, psychiatric disorders, and co-occurring disorders.. One of nine facilities operated by the organization and its latest opening, the MFI Recovery Center’s La Vista Recovery and Wellness Center provides a gender-specific, residential treatment program for women. Located in San Jacinto, Calif., the facility does not provide detoxification services on-site.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to MFI Recovery Center’s website, upon admission, clients participate in an initial assessment, which is used to create a personalized treatment plan. To treat its clients, La Vista Recovery and Wellness Center utilizes the Matrix Model with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and 12-step facilitation.
During treatment, clients participate in a structured schedule of individual, group, and family counseling sessions designed to help clients identify underlying factors that may contribute to addictive behavior.
As a gender-specific program, counseling sessions focus on issues common among women struggling with substance abuse. The trauma-focused treatment may address issues of physical or sexual abuse, PTSD, low self-esteem, depression, and an inability to cope with stress. The Matrix Model typically also incorporates educational workshops on relapse prevention techniques.
In addition to counseling sessions and educational classes, the facility also incorporates the principles and practices of the 12-step model of recovery into treatment. Clients may attend on-site and off-site 12-step meetings, study fellowship literature, and complete coursework to guide clients in their “step-work.” Dually diagnosed individuals may also receive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management.
To help clients transition back into the community, clinicians may coordinate with clients to create comprehensive discharge plans. These plans may include referrals to sober housing, community-based resources, outpatient programs, and other linkages that provide aftercare support.
