ABOUT OASIS WOMENS RECOVERING COMMUNITY

Since 1991, Oasis Women’s Recovering Community has been helping women recover from substance use disorder and trauma. Located in California’s San Fernando Valley, the nonprofit organization provides long-term residential treatment services to adult women.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment at Oasis is holistic and designed to treat the spiritual, emotional, and physical components of addiction. The six-month program is divided into three phases: addiction education and counseling, recovery skill building, and community reentry preparation.

Throughout the program, residents attend regular workshops and classes on a variety of pertinent topics, including anger and stress management, self-esteem building, parenting skills, domestic violence recovery, job readiness, communication and healthy self-expression, and basic life skills such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and self-care.

Clients also attend 12-step meetings and participate in activities such as yoga and expressive arts. They are also involved in community service and are taken on leisure sober-living outings including picnics, live theater, comedy shows, and more.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the facility’s website, Oasis’s program director and founder has been a counselor and case manager for more than 25 years. The one alum surveyed by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave the facility just one out of five stars for its staff support, its staff’s level of training and experience, and the quality of its lead counselor. The reviewer reported that there was just one counselor on staff and that she was unprofessional and ineffective.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings, however the one alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave Oasis one out of five stars for its accommodations and amenities. They also gave the rehab one star for its cleanliness and described the facility as a “dump.”

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The one alum surveyed by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave Oasis Women’s Recovering Community a negative review, awarding the facility just one or two out of five stars across most evaluated metrics, including exercise and leisure activities, holistic offerings, visitor policy, counselor availability, inclusion of alternative approaches, the overall quality of counseling, and the consistency of meetings.

On Google, Oasis received two opposing reviews. Cliffon gave the facility a five-star review and wrote: “This program absolutely changed my heart then my life. Oasis is loving, honest and safe.” The other anonymous reviewer gave the facility just one star and provided no commentary.

On Facebook, the facility received a high average rating of 4.8 out of five stars based on 26 reviews. “This place saved my life. I came from jail and today I am a mother, I have career, I’m a wife and most importantly I am an active recovering woman,” wrote Stephanie in a representative review.

FINANCING

According to HealthGrove, Oasis accepts state insurance other than Medicaid, and offers fees on a sliding scale. The one alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date noted that they paid for treatment themselves, and reported that they did not believe that the care, treatment, and services received were worth the cost of their stay.
