ABOUT BEACON HOUSE

Founded in 1961 and located in Northern California’s picturesque Monterey Bay area, Beacon House is recognized as one of the pioneering residential 12-step treatment centers in the United States. The facility offers medical detox, residential treatment, and outpatient care for adult men and women struggling with substance abuse, dual diagnosis, and various process addictions such as gambling, Internet, sex, and eating disorders.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon admission to Beacon House, each individual undergoes a comprehensive assessment by a medical consultant and clinical psychologist to determine the optimal level of care.

Medical detox is conducted on a residential basis, providing clients with medical monitoring and participation in individual and group counseling.

The center’s inpatient residential treatment program follows the 12-Step approach and incorporates evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI). The program is tailored to each individual’s unique needs, and may include medication-assisted treatment (MAT) utilizing approved medications like Vivitrol. In addition to individual counseling and group therapy, clients participate in family therapy, addiction education, and experiential services. Beacon House’s location allows for outdoor recreational activities such as surfing, birding, and equine therapy. An extended residential program with an emphasis on relapse prevention is available.

Outpatient programming is offered at two levels: full-day partial hospitalization program (PHP) and half-day intensive outpatient program (IOP). Both programs provide individual and group counseling, education, family support, case management, and discharge planning.

The center also provides lifetime aftercare for all clients who successfully complete the program.

Beacon House Reviews

They help me out with my problems.
Good overall.
As one past reviewer stated, NOT a 2:1 staff to patient ratio. The house was at capacity of 22 patients, which would mean 44 staff members. Maybe the grounds keepers, etc were counted? My husband had a psych eval, but the results were only used for insurance authorization, not for treatment purposes. Our insurance stepped down care to outpatient after only 1 week leaving us to pay $150 a day for glorified AA meetings & extracurricular activities. Basically Summer camp for addicts. So incredibly disappointed. We were expecting so much more.
They were well furnished so that I didn't feel like I was in a hospital. I hated the food, but I am really picky... but ugh. I was forced to go and I am not going to stop smoking week; so in my opinion, this place is stupid.
The facility was clean but it had a weird aroma. They had an amazing gym and the staff was very friendly.
