ABOUT PEMARRO RECOVERY CENTER
Located in the hills of Southern California, Pemarro Recovery Center is a not-for-profit organization that offers sub-acute medically managed detoxification services for individuals struggling with substance use disorder.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment begins with a psychiatric assessment. The average length of stay is seven to 12 days, depending on the client’s needs, the length of their dependency, and their withdrawal symptoms.
The facility uses medications to ease the symptoms of withdrawal; non-opioid medication regimes are available, for those clients who prefer such an arrangement. The multidisciplinary program also includes individual, group, and family counseling, case management, and referrals and transportation to the client’s next level of care.
The center’s staff offers a diverse range of specializations, including training in Native American recovery, Christian counseling, Pacific Island cultures, LGBT recovery, and military substance use disorder treatment.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The team is headed by an MD who specializes in addiction medicine. According to the facility’s website, many staff members are in recovery themselves; all staff, including support staff, are registered alcohol and drug technicians; and all staff have CPR and First Aid training. The team also represents a diverse range of training and cultural backgrounds, as detailed above.
The single individual polled by Best-rehabs.com to date, a staffer, gave the facility five out of five stars for the experience levels of its addiction, mental health, and medical staff.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
The facility is located on a picturesque, 12-acre site, and according to the facility’s website, there’s also an emotional support dog on-site.

Best-rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews directly from alumni of Pemarro Recovery Center, and at the time of this writing, secondary sites yielded mostly positive feedback: the facility had average ratings of 3.62 out of five stars based on eight reviews on CiteHealth[1], four stars based on four reviews on Google[2], and five stars based on 10 reviews on Facebook (where the facility can manage its own page)[3], as well as a single five-star rating on Yelp.[4] Though a few reviewers cited difficulties with staff and the facility’s discharge practices, the majority of reviewers spoke very highly of the staff, the atmosphere, and the program in general. “Pemarro Recovery is the first treatment center I have been to that I felt truly ‘Listened’ to. The staff are among the most caring and compassionate people I have ever met,” R.S. wrote in a representative review on Google.

The single staffer polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave very positive feedback. “It is an overall great facility, and my job satisfaction was very high working here,” Wayne wrote, giving the facility five stars in all of the evaluated treatment metrics, including its honesty, its willingness to put clients’ interests first, and the overall quality of its care.
FINANCING
As a not-for-profit organization, Pemarro keeps its costs low, and provides some financial assistance for qualifying clients. The center also accepts insurance.
