ABOUT THE ROSE

Located in the city of Newport, California, The Rose offers residential, outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), and partial hospitalization (PHP) programs to adult women seeking treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. An extended care option called Rose II is also available. Though detox services are not offered on site, The Rose has a network of referral facilities licensed to perform various types of detox.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment at The Rose begins with an assessment with an intake counselor. During the intake meeting, clients will have their items searched for safety reasons. Once that process is complete, clients will be admitted to the programs.

Treatment consists of a highly-structured schedule based on three phases of treatment. Treatment therapies include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance/commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), family therapy, and the 12-steps principles. Medication management is also available for clients that need medication to treat co-occurring disorders.

Clients also participate in physical and recreational therapies to promote whole body wellness. These therapies include Yoga Pilates, beach excursions, meditation, massage, and art therapy. These therapies are provided in conjunction with counseling services as needed to facilitate client recovery.

Educational workshops are also provided for a variety of topics including hypnotherapy, trauma workshops, psychodrama activities. Relapse prevention education is provided to help clients develop long-term coping skills.

Family involvement is encouraged although clients’ interactions with family may be limited due to a busy schedule. However, visitation is not restricted, and family members are encouraged to participate whenever they are able.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team at The Rose is made up of master-level counselors as well as certified drug and alcohol counselors. There is also a clinical psychologist, a consulting psychiatrist, a licensed acupuncturist, and licensed a massage therapist. Individuals polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing rated the staff very highly. The staff averaged a five out of five stars based on five reviews and were often cited in reviews as one of The Rose’s greatest strengths.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Located on the beach, The Rose houses up to six women at any one time. The facility is a family style home with a full kitchen and laundry room. All meals are prepared by an in-house chef. Clients share rooms, although private rooms are also available. Each room has an ocean view, modern furnishings, and high-quality furniture. Clients also have access to the beach as well recreational areas for yoga and other activities.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Alumni reviews for the Rose are generally positive, based on the feedback of two respondents to date. The facility received four out of five stars or higher from both alumni for accommodations, staff, and holistic elements of the facility. Alum Allison wrote: “Fantastic location, excellent food, nurturing environment… It would be a great vacation spot if it wasn’t a rehab… I felt very well taken care of and in good hands.”

She also noted that the staff was “caring & knowledgeable.” An anonymous alum echoed this sentiment and wrote: “Very Helpful, and made me feel like my problems were unique.”

The main recurring complaint, however, was about the high cost of treatment, which alumni cited as the greatest weakness of the facility. The alum who rated the facility’s affordability gave it four out of five stars.

On Google, The Rose received a pair of five out of five star reviews without any commentary. [1] On Yelp, the facility earned an average rating of 2.33 out of five stars from six reviews. [2] Two of the reviews were positive, and four were negative. Many of the reviews claim the staff is unprofessional. Alum Keri wrote: “The Rose is hands down a horrible treatment center. The staff is unprofessional, continually argues amoungst themselves, complains about being overworked, and cannot keep patient medication straight. If you are dual diagnosis and need help for bipolar like most clients do, do not go to the Rose. I never saw a Dr, just a nurse practitioner who didn’t know what she was talking about.”

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Aside from complaints about high costs, the two loved ones polled at the time of this writing generally felt positive about The Rose. Jane described the facility as “organized, clean, professional,” and wrote: “My sister went through this program a couple months ago she came out a different person.”

An anonymous loved one indicated that the facility’s greatest strengths were “treatment program experiential and alternative therapies… Good drug rehab program for women as well as issues like trauma, depression, addiction.”

Loved ones gave four out of five stars or higher for the facility’s accommodations, exercise and leisure opportunities, holistic offerings, and family participation.

FINANCING

The Rose accepts private insurance and is an in-network provider. Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Healthnet/MHN, Anthem Blue Cross, and others have been accepted. Public insurance like Medicare and Medicaid are not accepted.

  • Very Helpful, and made me feel like my problems were unique. However, people weren't always there for me. Their programs to help rehabilitate helped me and my loved one get out of alcohol.

  • Staff is caring & knowledgeable, fantastic location, excellent food, nurturing environment -- none of that break you down junk. It's not the cheapest program, but I think it was worth it. It would be a great vacation spot if it wasn't a rehab. Every summer I kind of wish I was back in rehab :). I felt very well taken care of and in good hands.
