In holistic options, each client can participate in four group acupuncture sessions a week,as well as herbal therapies, yoga, massage, and therapeutic aromatherapy.

The facility’s website notes that families are involved in care and many attend an intensive family weekend that teaches better communication skills and tools for dealing with addiction.

An intensive outpatient (IOP) program meets for at least nine hours a week and offers individual, group, and family counseling; gender-specific treatment; spiritual therapy; relapse prevention; and education. Individualized general outpatient treatment is also available.

C.A.R.E.’s website details aftercare provisions including supervised living facilities — either on C.A.R.E.’s own campus or via a referral to other local organizations — as well as alumni activities, support group meetings, phone support, and continued individual and group counseling.

  • I am clean and sober from a heroin addiction and now a Registered Nurse. When my father passed away days before I was to be graduated, care graciously gave me another week free to help with my grieving. When I read comments about meals, I don’t feel that is the programs fault as each client is allowed a budget weekly and everyone shops at the grocery store for themselves or with housemates IF they choose. As far as counselors and amenities I would rate as a 5 without a doubt. I took advantage of weekly massages, biweekly acupuncture, biweekly beach trips, yoga, group meetings, outside NA and more!

  • I was treated here over 10 years ago. After 28 days I lived in the halfway house for 8 months. I give it 5 stars for effectiveness because I have been clean & sober ever since. I read the other reviews. Yes, you shop and cook for yourself. It's not a luxury hotel on the beach but it is possible to go to the beach sometimes. The gym, massages & holistic treatments are available. You will be taken to 12-step meetings every day, or nearly every day. It is a safe place and the residences are safe. It is not a lockdown. Regarding the Buzzfeed article, the Director, is a person of kindness, understanding and integrity. If you are there, or you are going there, stay there. It may help save your life, as it helped me save mine :)

  • Offers an extended program. Men and women have group therapy together My son did well while he was there for 60 days but was made to leave because he became involved with a female resident. This type of situation should be expected when you treat males and female and I feel it could have been handled better, there shold be a plan in place.

  • It's really good, it really helped my cousin. he still goes to meetings there as an alumni. Sometimes its halfway houses are a mess, but that is cuz of the ppl who lives there. The holistic approach, the indoors gym and the pool are really good ways to make a person recover. It also follows a non 12 steps program which I think it's great

  • This place was horrible. I was not allowed to call my family, they don't provide meals (you have to go grocery shopping and cook for yourself), and everything advertised on their website is exaggerated. This is NOT a nice place. The staff was unprofessional and unhelpful; one of the "counselors" was an addict "in recovery" from New York, although I don't see how someone who cusses at patients and rants and raves every day is someone who could be considered helpful in a clinical setting. You are not allowed to stay in bed and rest at ALL throughout your detox. They kicked me out after 3 weeks in the program. They did not refund the $2,500 that was already paid for the 4th week there. My whole experience here was a total nightmare. Do NOT send your loved ones here!!!

  • Great program, excellent staff. Great place for those who truly want to recover. The only downfall was that there were funding difficulties.
