For more than six decades, Henderson Behavioral Health has provided support to individuals and communities in South Florida. The nonprofit, private organization operates four adult outpatient and psychosocial rehabilitation facilities, including its central branch in Fort Lauderdale.

The centers offers dual-diagnosis programs, veterans counseling programs, a crisis stabilization unit (CSU), student counseling, housing and employment assistance programs, and specialized services for older adults, youth, and families. Detoxification services are not provided.


According to the facility’s website, the co-occurring disorders treatment program involves both individual and group therapies, which apply evidence-based practices in combination with an array of approaches to treat both disorders simultaneously.

VICTORY or veterans in counseling to obtain recovery program is designed to provide services to veterans before, during, and after deployment.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services program utilizes the Role Recovery Model to treat mental illness symptoms. The program helps clients to achieve stability and develop confidence, knowledge, skills, and support systems. Ongoing psychiatric and wellness assessments influence which holistic treatment options each client will pursue, such as medication management and smoking cessation.

Because recovery in community is a high priority, several options complement traditional outpatient therapy, including community-based support groups and a garden project.

Programming in outpatient and rehabilitation services, includes individual and group therapy, family support groups, medication education and management, psychiatric and nursing assessments and treatment, and case management.


The center’s website notes more than 600 staff members provide behavioral health services through Henderson’s South Florida facilities. The lone loved one surveyed by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave five out of five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience.


The facility’s website indicates that In addition to its central branch in Fort Lauderdale, adult outpatient rehab centers are located in Tamarac, Hollywood, and Davie. More than two dozen facilities in 10 cities provide Henderson’s housing, counseling, community support, family, youth, and crisis services.

The four people who provided commentary with their rating left negative feedback and complained about the time it took to get an appointment. “To make an appointment you have to wait three months and if you cant make it wait another three months to reschedule…Please dont waste your time here,” an alum wrote in a representative review.


The only loved one polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided positive feedback. The anonymous loved one gave five out of five stars for multiple metrics, including when asked if they would recommend Henderson Behavioral Health, treatment effectiveness, and counseling options.

“Good enviroment. Mental theapy,” they wrote.

Staffers complained about the lack of organization, lack of room for growth, and a stressful work environment. “New program so not really established. A bit disorganized. Lack of support and guidance… Some coworkers aren’t very professional and can be rude to other staff,” a current staffer wrote.

While individuals who praised the center wrote about the joy of helping others, the family-like environment, and the good people who work at the centers.

“They have many different roles and options you can decide to work in. The atmosphere is very family oriented. Their training and orientation is very detailed and helpful,” a former case manager wrote in a representative review.

Reviews were submitted to Indeed by case managers, nursing staff, administrators, mental health clinicians, and counselors at a variety of Henderson facilities.


There is currently no information provided on the facility’s website regarding its costs. However, both CiteHealth and HealthGrove data indicate the rehabilitation programs accept Medicaid and private insurance coverage plans, and that payment assistance is available to those who qualify. The facility website references funding from the state and several local and national community service organizations.
