ABOUT CARL VINSON VA MEDICAL CENTER
Located in Dublin, Ga., 53 miles east of Macon, Carl Vinson VA Medical Center provides outpatient-based programs for veterans and active-duty military personnel struggling with chemical dependency, a psychiatric disorder, or co-occurring disorders. The medical center also provides intensive case management services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, patients undergo an initial substance abuse and/or mental health assessment to determine an appropriate approach to treatment. According to the facility’s website, Carl Vinson VA Medical Center provides “treatment for a variety of issues that can impact emotional well-being.” Many of these treatments include evidence-based methods that are tailored to address issues common among military veterans.
During the outpatient programs, patients struggling with chemical dependency participate in individual therapy and supportive group counseling sessions to identify any underlying issues that may contribute to addictive behavior. If applicable, the facility may also encourage loved one to participate in family counseling sessions, as well as family educational classes. In addition to treatment that addresses substance abuse, Carl Vinson VA Medical Center offers outpatient-based services for individuals struggling with a primary psychiatric disorder and co-occurring mental health concerns. Disorders may include post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD), depression, suicidal ideation, and anxiety. Treatment includes psychiatric evaluations, individual and group counseling, coping skill workshops, and specialized groups on anger management and relationship-building. To help minimize disorder symptoms, the medical canter may utilize a pharmacological intervention and ongoing medication management.
To offer additional support for patients, Carl Vinson VA Medical Center also provide intensive case management. Case management may include assistance in finding sober housing, vocational training opportunities, and supportive employment. Many VA clinics and medical centers also facilitate compensated work therapy programs.

Employee reviews of secondary sources echoed this positive opinion. On Indeed, nine employees gave the facility, as a whole, an average rating of 3.9 out of five stars[1].
