Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center

Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center Ball Ground Georgia

At Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery, clients are encouraged to stop thinking of themselves as hopeless victims. The residential drug and alcohol treatment center and detox facility teaches individuals to free themselves of a life of addiction through accountability, honesty, and action. Located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the center provides compassionate substance abuse care for men and women in an intimate and serene setting. Residents learn the skills needed to build a solid foundation for sustainable, long-term recovery.

ABOUT BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAIN RECOVERY CENTER

Located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Northern Georgia, Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center provides residential treatment for adults struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. Program graduates receive continuing care, and medically managed detox is available for those who require it. Duration of treatment varies, but most clients remain on-site for 35 to 45 days.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon each client’s admission, staff conduct a comprehensive evaluation to create an individualized treatment plan. Those who require medical attention for withdrawal symptoms begin their stay in detox. Once stabilized, they transition to the center’s residential program, which is grounded in the 12-Steps.

Clients divide their days between individual therapy, process groups, educational lectures, relapse prevention work, discussions on spirituality, and recreational activities. Residents attend both on- and off-site recovery meetings. All program graduates leave with a continuing care plan, and a relapse recovery program is available for those who need it.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the facility’s website, the staff is led by a medical director and includes a psychiatrist, licensed nurses, licensed professional counselors, certified addiction counselors, therapists, and a certified personal trainer.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Situated on 50 acres, Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center has the appearance of an upscale country club. The elegant, hill-top mansion, which serves as both the treatment center and residence, is surrounded by manicured lawns. Clients sleep in shared, well-appointed bedrooms with simple, tasteful furnishings. There are deep leather sofas in the sitting room, a study area, and a wrap-around porch equipped with lounge chairs. In their downtime, clients can shoot hoops on the on-site basketball court, fish in the nearby pond, relax by the outdoor fire pit, or enjoy a game of ping-pong.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Alumni reviews for this facility are mixed. When asked how likely they were to recommend the center to others, the four alumni polled by Best-rehabs.com on this metric provided an average rating of 3.5 out of five stars. Of all evaluated categories, the facility’s cleanliness received the highest rating of 3.75 out of stars, followed by connectivity/visitor policy and the quality of family programming at 3.5 out of five stars. “Food and accommodations are great!” Ashley told Best-rehabs.com.

Alumni were less impressed with the center’s exercise and leisure options and holistic offerings, which received respective ratings of three and 2.25 stars. “The people there are very kind. they actually LISTEN to you. Its a very nice facility… Id say they could use more recreation activities,” an anonymous alum wrote in a representative review. Additionally, some alumni felt that staff lacked control of group meetings, which reportedly became “rowdy” at times. “I ended up leaving early because the group’s were chaos and being outside of group was worse,” J.R. wrote.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Friends and family members surveyed by Best-rehabs.com were, for the most part, satisfied with the care their loved ones received. Four survey respondents gave 4.25 out of five stars to the center’s cleanliness, the quality of family programming and general participation in treatment, and the staff’s level of training and experience. “Everyone from the doctors, staff and other clients have made such a change in his life,” family member Barbara wrote.

They also gave 3.5 out of five stars for the center’s holistic offerings and affordability received Additionally, some reviewers expressed concern over the staff’s professionalism and their level of follow-up. “The staff is hit or miss. Meaning the communication piece isn’t great,” L.L. wrote. Another anonymous respondent told Best-rehabs.com that their loved one checked out on their own before completing treatment. “Loved one continued to drink and checked herself out….because she said that they said that she didn’t really have a problem with alcohol,” they wrote.

Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center Reviews

This place stinks. My counselor lied to my wife told her she should not let me come home. I left yearly. Counselor told my wife I wouldn't be clean 24 hours after leaving well I'm almost two months clean. one of the worst counselors I have ever met.

  • I am unsure that the "treatment effectiveness" question is appropriate at this time. However, Blue Ridge, in my opinion, and due to interactions with the counselors and staff, and attending their family workshop: I would recommend Blue Ridge Recovery's program to anyone that wants to get recovery right the first time. Amazing people. Amazing program. Anticipating amazing results. Their unrelenting ability and offering of (their) experience, strength and hope. The only "weakness", and not sure about the word weakness, is that it is a 30(35) day program. Recovery is a long process... and the people at BR as so strong in their mission and beliefs that I wish that had their own sober living program, however I believe they know and refer clients to some pretty awesome ones.

  • I have worked in treatment centers for two years, and I never felt truly at home until I began working at Blue Ridge. My first day of work (in April 2017) I immediately felt welcomed by the staff, and clients as well. I have discovered something in my time at Blue Ridge, the staff, including myself, care very deeply about each and every client. We have a housekeeping staff, and a kitchen staff, but they do not just clean and cook, even they speak with the clients and show them the love they deserve. It has been an honor to work with this team, and I am looking forward to many more years here!

  • The food and people are somewhat nice but they all talk behind your back and a counselor is the absolute worse. They people are absolutely a waste of your time the techs are somewhat cool but Id never refer to any place like this. Your better off in jail tbh
SG, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed sending time with some of our techs!! They are a really diverse group of people in recovery, clinicians and others who just want to be of service. I'm confident the experience was much better than being incarcerated and is unfortunate that your counselor didn't seem to be the best fit for you. I would love to discuss any details about it and get your feedback on how we could improve things for the next person. Please feel free to contact me at todd.stumbo@acadiahealthcare.com. Thank you for your review and feedback!!
Walking through the doors at Blue Ridge truly saved my life. At 30 years old it was my first treatment center I had ever been to. I was scared to death, broken, lonely, depressed, full of anxiety, and full of grief and guilt for what I had let my life become and what I had done to my myself and my family. Through my 35 days I got stronger everyday, I learned new things everyday, I learned how to cope with addiction, I learned how to live a clean lifestyle, I learned that addiction is not just a term that gets thrown around; addiction is a true disease. Before I left Blue Ridge I learned how to put the past in the past and look forward to my future, I learned how to forgive myself, and most importantly I learned how to love myself again. From the CEO, Medical Director, Family & Alumni Director, Program Director, the Counselors, the Nursing staff, the Tech staff, all the way to the cleaning staff; they were all truly amazing! I will be forever grateful for Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center!

  • I have taught yoga and DBT skills groups at BRMRC for 3 years and am grateful to be part of such an amazing team. Our staff's knowledge and competence exceeds other facilities I've worked for. Our leader, Todd Stumbo, is an exceptional CEO with great integrity and a passion for recovery.
Working at Blue Ridge has been one of the most AMAZING experiences of my life. To be surrounded by like minded people who have a passion for helping those struggling with addiction is such a blessing. There are several areas of the program I love but having someone coming weekly to conduct yoga and DBT has been one of the highlights!! I deeply appreciate everything that all the staff do and the support of the local recovery community. I look forward to continue to fight the battle daily with others who are driven to change the world.

  • I will forever be thankful for the time I spent at Blue Ridge!! I love the staff and most of the are in recovery so they can relate! There was always some one on staff to talk to. They truly care about recovery. I left with an education on addiction and recovery. But more importantly I found who I wanted to be and I had the tools to become that person! Thank you BRMRC for helping me begin my new life!

  • I was a client at BRMRC from May-July. I came into Blue Ridge pregnant, and scared of judgement and of being treated poorly because of my situation. However, I was treated with such kindness, compassion, and understanding. The nursing staff made sure I was always okay and received all of the care I needed. The counselors and techs are all genuinely caring about every clients life. The are all willing to go above and beyond to make sure clients needs are met. They made sure to always be available to chat if anyone needed it. I do feel that blue ridge gave me a great foundation and understanding of recovery and a second chance at life.

  • The recovery process here was outstanding. The staff was excellent.
Would not recommend going here. They are worried more about money than helping you. A lot of younger kids most are there on court orders. You do not have privacy along with having to sleep with 5 other ppl in the same room. They will not make you comfortable in detox. You won't get much one on one therapy and the meetings are mostly AA meetings all day. Also very strict try to keep up with you 24/7 including waking you up at night to make sure your there and not breaking the rules. The staff persuaded me into coming they talked very well until I saw what it was then they were extremely rude and was only worried about me paying them for the only night that I was there. There are much better options out there so please do your research before choosing. I read bad reviews online about this place and should have listened to them. They are very under staffed and unprofessional.
Kyle, Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge our facility and the experience that you had. I am a big fan of getting to know and understand the different perspectives people have as they come through our doors experiencing many of the different challenges that they do. I would love to have the opportunity to improve on some of the areas you are speaking about as well as have you come out and tour our program now. I see you report only being with us one night? I think you would be pleasantly surprised if you were able to come for an entire day and truly get to know the staff and the program. If interested please give us a call and ask for me...Todd Stumbo. Thanks again Kyle for taking the time to leave us a review!!
Thank you so much for the excellent care and support my son received while at your facility. Everyone from the doctors, staff and other clients have made such a change in his life. He is now at Launching Pad and continuing to do well in his new journey of living a sober life . This was such a positive experience for our family. Thank you so much for saving my son.

  • My wife was in the program. Slow/lack of communication. My wife had swelling of her feet and it was difficult for her get around. Also was a huge distraction for her and someone there should have stepped and taken if seriously. If your an older person this is not the place for you. To many young people which creates even more distractions. Overall they need to do a better job with cleanliness. Visit days were in the cafeteria, and that place was not clean. Overall for the price, it leaves a lot to be desired. The staff is hit or miss. Meaning the communication piece isn't great
For starters, do not have a center with 6 flights of stairs. I paid 5k out of pocket. Unlike every other KID in there parents helped with nothing. 3 people seem to be there for the right reasons. I was in bad shape. Aside from addiction I have NO history of ANY mental illness. I am clean now. I give few people there minimal credit for the life I am living. Get caught with dope, serve some time, and get clean. Thank you to one person in particular. Nothing but love you.

  • This place is a terrible center. My son was in there for 30 days. Since he has been discharged no one from his side of the family has even spoken to him. His wife controls every move he makes. This treatment center was the downhill slide. He called me the day he went into this place. He has totally ruined his dad's and my life in our older years.

  • I was at Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center about 2 months ago and thought the placed stunk. I have been been to rehab a couple of other times and those were much more professional but this place was in Georgia and I wanted to stay closer to home this time. There were so many younger patients there that it was a real turn off. I ended up leaving early because the group's were chaos and being outside of group was worse. Several of my fellow inmates felt the same way and planned to leave. The staff are ok but were just so young and didn't help me with my depression. We were crammed in the bedrooms and the place is not clean and was smelly. I liked some staff but some were really untrained and didn't seem to like their job. I never got to see my counselor except once and the groups were a waste of time. They were just worried about money and didn't have enough staff to make sure their profits were high enough I guess. Don't waste your time and money. I ended up going somewhere else and I'm sober today.
