ABOUT RIVERMEND HEALTH CENTERS
Conveniently located at the intersection of I-75 and I-285 in Marietta, Georgia, a suburb north of Atlanta, RiverMend Health Centers of Georgia is an addiction rehab and behavioral health organization for adults and their families. Combining evidence-based and holistic practices with 12-Step meetings and support groups, the center provides personally tailored outpatient programs for those seeking an alternative to inpatient care.
RiverMend Health Centers also runs a physician-led detoxification program for prescription drug abuse.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment begin with a series of assessments, psychological, medical, and spiritual in nature, to help determine the level of care required. The center’s two outpatient programs are ideal for individuals seeking intensive treatment in a setting less restrictive than inpatient care: intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial hospitalization (PHP).
As they continue living at home, clients attend private counseling, group therapy, and educational sessions focused on matters related to their work and home environments. Counseling makes use of a variety of treatment therapies and techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), gender-specific therapy, and psychoeducational therapy. Per the center’s webpage, clients are “asked to attend” 12-step support meetings and begin developing a sober network. Families are also invited for a one-time family orientation as well as weekly family groups.
Though programming at this Marietta location take place on an outpatient basis only, the center does provide extra support through its designated sober living homes. Available for participants of either IOP or PHP, structured living addresses some of the most practical, relevant, and invaluable skills and tools needed for successful independent living. These may include job interviewing and resume drafting, budgeting, and everyday skills such as grocery shopping, cooking, and household maintenance.
There’s also an optional five-week LGBTQ program for those already enrolled in IOP or PHP. Here, LGBTQ clients explore their gender identity as it relates to being active in addiction. Treatment components include yoga, pain management, the recovery-mind model of care, and weekly individual sessions.
