ABOUT FREEBIRDS SOLUTION CENTER
Freebirds Solution Center, located in Terre Haute, Indiana, provides affordable sober housing for men and women living in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. The nonprofit facility opened in 2004 and operates a main residence, two men’s honors houses, and one women’s honors house with space for a total of 60 individuals. Staff members at the faith-based sober living facility are Christian, and people who hold any spiritual belief are welcome.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to the facility’s website, residents must pass a drug screening at intake and are subject to frequent and random drug and alcohol tests. The program works with clients’ court orders and accepts recommendations from probation officers, prosecutors, and drug counselors.
Freebirds Solution Center services are available to clients with a desire to continue in recovery. The program is built on a 12-step recovery model and the dignity of work. Residents participate in multiple recovery meetings, Bible studies, and 12-Step meetings every week. Attendance at Bible studies is encouraged but not mandatory. Employment skills support services are also available.
Accountability, integrity, and compassion are also key values in the recovery maintenance program and residents participate in both peer guidance and peer monitoring practices.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
There is currently limited information provided by the facility regarding its staff; however, according to its website, staff members practice the Christian faith and are in recovery. The lone alum surveyed by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave four out of five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
The center’s website indicates the main residence is located in a historic former elementary school that was built in 1908. The large brick building is a registered historic site in Indiana. Photographs on the facility’s website show an indoor spaces feature comfortably and simply furnished shared living areas. Dorm rooms hold 13 beds each, with facility space for 60 total residents. An overnight visitation suite is available for resident parents with children.
One meal per day is included in residents’ room and board costs. Assistance in finding employment is offered, and residents are also responsible for chores in the program. The facility includes a fitness suite and access to a garage and tools for auto repair. The building is wood-heated.

The only alum polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided positive feedback. They gave four out of five stars when asked if they would recommend the treatment center, the staff’s level of training and experience, and its treatment of co-occurring disorders.
Meals and nutrition received the highest rating, and holistic offerings the lowest. The alum cited counsel as the program’s strength.

Room and board, including one meal per day, costs $98 per week and is payable by residents.
