ABOUT SWANSON CENTER
Swanson Center in Michigan City, Ind., provides outpatient services for adults, adolescents, and children dealing with mental health disorders. Residential treatment is available for adults with serious mental illnesses. The center runs a specialized substance abuse program for teens and adults.
Swanson Center also provides gambling addiction treatment. Detoxification is not available on-site, but the facility can make referrals.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Swanson Center’s outpatient program incorporates individual, group, and family therapy with education, psychological testing, and psychiatric evaluation. Medication management is available, as is marital/couples therapy.is available to clients following graduation.
Swanson Center’s substance abuse program for adolescents aged 13 to 17 includes evidence-based curriculum with individual, family, and group therapies. Services are available during and after school.
The center’s The Activity Center for Older Adults (ACOA) provides adults 55 and older with educational programs and recreational activities.
The center’s PATH program offers support for homeless individuals dealing with mental health and addiction disorders.
Swanson Center also offers additional services for children needing support at home, school, and in the community.
Swanson Center is CARF-accredited and employs a team of mental health professionals including case managers, therapists, and nurses.

The sole loved one polled by Best-rehabs.com gave perfect five-star ratings to most metrics evaluated, including Swanson Center’s treatment effectiveness, affordability, accommodations, and level of family participation. “Swanson center was very understanding and the staff was very personable,” the anonymous reviewer reported. “However, the psychiatrists were very moody.”
WHAT STAFF SAY
Though current and former staff members have not yet responded to a Best-rehabs.com poll, nine reviewers gave the Swanson Center four out of five stars on Indeed. One three-star reviewer commented: “On a typical day, I have 10 to 15 clients that I have to meet with, assess their current needs and monitor their progress with treatment. Communication within the organization is great and everyone is on the same page.” 
Swanson Center accepts insurance, Medicare and Medicaid, and major HMO and PPO plans. The center also offers financial assistance and accepts cash, check, and credit cards.
