ABOUT CEDAR RAPIDS COMPREHENSIVE TREATMENT CENTER
Located in a suburban roadside building four miles south of central Cedar Rapids in eastern Iowa, Cedar Rapids Comprehensive Treatment Center provides medication-assisted outpatient treatment for individuals aged 18 and older who are struggling with an opioid addiction.
Incoming clients must have been dependent on opiates for at least a year, and must have been in a state of withdrawal for at least 20 to 24 hours before beginning treatment, unless they are pregnant. Pregnant women who already have an OB/GYN must have consent from their OB/GYN before beginning treatment.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to Cedar Rapids Comprehensive Treatment Center’s website, initial intake appointments take between two and four hours and include a physical, a drug test, a pregnancy test for women, and an opportunity to document treatment, psychiatric, and medical history.
Cedar Rapids prescribes methadone, Subutex, Suboxone, and Vivitrol.
Along with medication, programming includes individual and group therapy. Individual therapy is designed to treat past trauma, develop fresh perspectives on the underlying causes of the substance abuse, develop healthy coping skills, and establishing short- and long-term goals. Group therapy aims to enhance clients’ interpersonal skills, altruism, and sense of universality, among other qualities.
