Located in Harvey, La., Gateway Recovery Systems offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) in a residential environment for adult men who are struggling with various addictions and co-occurring mental health disorders.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to the facility’s website, Gateway Recovery Systems utilizes the Minnesota Model, which is based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).
The treatment Center’s goals are to help men abstain from alcohol and other mood-altering chemicals, and help them achieve an improved quality of live. The center reaches this goal by teaching the 12-step philosophy. Programming includes meetings with other people in recovery, counseling, 12-step meetings, drug testing, and family counseling.
The center also promotes change by self-reflection and teaching new coping skills. Gateway Recovery Systems will accept men who are on psychotropic medications, but clients on opioid maintenance are not accepted.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The center’s website indicates most of the counseling staff at Gateway Recovery Systems are in recovery and can relate to the unique problems related to addiction. The staff is also certified by the State of Louisiana and is led by a Licensed Addiction Counselor.
The only staffer questioned by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave five out of five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Best-rehabs.com has yet to receive any reviews from this facility’s former clients. However, the eight individuals who left reviews on Google for Gateway Recovery Systems at the time of this writing gave an average 3.5 out of five star average.
Of the five people who provided commentary, only one left a negative response. They complained about the center’s accommodations. “Gateway is the trashiest place I’ve ever lived in and plus the bed bugs are literally in every house,” Cale wrote.
The other individuals praised the center and claimed it changed their lives. “Gateway saved my life back in 2012 and I’ve had a fantastic life since. Thanks again guys,” an alum wrote in a representative review.

The staffer noted “recovery” was the center’s strength, while the location was a weakness. “Many thanks and gratefulness,” they wrote.
FINANCING
According to Gateway Recovery Systems’ website, private pay for 42 to 50 days of intensive treatment is $5,500. The cost includes room and board, treatment, and transportation. The treatment center accepts insurances and offers treatment at no charge for people who make less than $23,000 a year.
