Upon admission, clients undergo an initial psychiatric and behavioral assessment to guide clinicians in forming an individualized plan of care.

Rockville’s inpatient program focuses on psychiatric and behavioral health stabilization. Specialized treatment for co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders is available in the facility’s Seneca Unit, while such primary conditions as depression and schizophrenia are treated in separate units.

Adventist chemical dependency and addiction treatment programming involves a combination of psychotherapy, education, holistic care, medication management, and an introduction to the 12-step model of recovery. Individual treatment plans draw from an array of modalities, which include nutritional counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, spiritual care, life skills training, and expressive therapies such as art and movement. Family counseling and educational sessions for loved ones and caregivers are available at this and less intensive levels of treatment.

Once a patient is stabilized through inpatient care, the facility typically encourages transition to a partial hospitalization (PHP) full-day program or an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Both programs incorporate many of the same therapeutic practices offered through inpatient treatment. Adolescent services are available through the PHP and standard outpatient tracks. IOP clients, meeting three times per week, have access to a weekly psychiatric consultation.

Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous meetings are held on-site.

  • The staff was very professional and experienced and the facility was well-kept. The food could have been better. I think it was a big part of my son's eventual recovery, but he was in the program only one time and it took a while before he finally gave up pot. At least he has been clean for a couple of years now and I hope it continues.
