ABOUT WELLS HOUSE, INC.
Founded in 1976 and located in Hagerstown, Md., Wells House, Inc. is a private nonprofit charity is a halfway house for homeless men who were struggling with substance use. The center also offers intensive outpatient programs (IOP) and outpatient treatment to men and women. Wells House, Inc.’s mission is to provide evidence-based behavioral health services and ancillary service to help all aspects of recovery. Individuals must be detoxed before entering the program.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to the facility’s website, the Wells House’s programs are designed to give peer support and encouragement. The program should help people to live a life free from drugs and alcohol, and live a life with self-confidence, dignity, and family relations.
Programming includes substance use education, group and individual counseling, and case management. Family involvement is part of the treatment process, and the center offers education with a focus on removing barriers to recovery.
Every resident receives an individualized treatment plans. Plans may includes individual, group, and family counseling, along with substance-based education sessions, referrals to rehab, education training, and financial planning. The center also helps withemployment, housing, medical, and legal issues
The facility’s website indicates that the treatment center prefers that clients address mental and emotional disorders and individuals are stable before being admitted.
The intensive outpatient programs are four, three-hour sessions per week. Clients have random Breathalyzer and urine drug screens, and are required to attend support groups and get a sponsor.
Traditional outpatient group is offered three sessions a week. The focus of these programs includes education, defense mechanisms, development of sober support network, and relapse prevention.
