ABOUT PATHWAYS ALCOHOL AND DRUG TREATMENT CENTER

Pathways Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center is owned and operated by the Anne Arundel Medical Center. From a roadside campus near downtown Annapolis, Md., it provides a full continuum of treatment programs for adults and teens struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders.

Pathways offers medically monitored detox and an inpatient program, through outpatient detox, partial hospitalization, general and intensive outpatient programming, and continuing care.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

For adults and teens alike, treatment includes 24-hour medical/nursing care, group counseling, 12-step groups, spirituality groups, addiction and recovery education, aftercare planning, and nutrition education. Family involvement is integral; Pathways holds family wellness workshops and weekly education sessions for families. Additionally, there’s an adventure therapy program featuring a ropes course. This aims to build self-awareness, confidence, and trust.

Residents in the teen program have access to the Pathways School program, which helps them fulfill basic schooling requirements during their stay. Led by a master’s level special education teacher, the program provides instruction and tutoring along with pre-GED evaluation, preparation, and testing.

Pathways also offers DWI/DUI education programs, helping previous offenders recognize and prevent their drinking and driving tendencies. There are six-week and 26-week options.

  • My son has been a drug addict for several years with the infernal cycle of rehab/relapse. Usually it takes a few months before he relapses. After 18 days of treatment at Pathways, "The medical team" discharged him. We were flabbergasted by such a decision. As expected, he was back on drugs within a couple of days. I had spent months to persuade him to go to rehab and "the medical team" decides after 18 days that a hardcore addict is ready to go. It was $7000.00 down the drain.
