ABOUT HAGERSTOWN TREATMENT CENTER

Hagerstown Treatment Center is operated by Colonial Management Group (LP), an organization founded in 1986 that operates 64 outpatient substance abuse clinics throughout the United States. The organization specializes in medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid addiction on an outpatient basis. The Hagerstown center is located in a suburban neighborhood seven miles west of central Hagerstown, Maryland.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to the facility’s website, Hagerstown Treatment Center utilizes medication-assisted treatment (MAT), which includes Suboxone, buprenorphine, and Naloxone. MAT is used to alleviate withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Only 37.6% of facilities in the state offer Suboxone treatment.

Treatment begins with a physical exam and a psychosocial assessment conducted by the center’s medical director to create an individualized treatment plan. Lab work conducted as part of the physical exam may lead to referrals for further medical care.

Each client is assigned a personal counselor, and clients must also undergo random urinalysis testing. Programming includes individual and group counseling. Referrals are made for medical and dental care, educational or vocational training, employment assistance, pastoral or religious counseling, support groups, and mental health counseling when appropriate.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the center’s website, Colonial Management Center employs doctors, nurses, social workers, and counselors. However, it is unclear which staff members are specifically at the Hagerstown Treatment Center. Both individuals surveyed by Best-rehabs.com gave the center three out of five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

At the time of this writing, Best-rehabs.com had not received any direct reviews from alumni of this facility. However, secondary review sites provided mixed feedback.

On Facebook, the center had a single five out of five star review. However, the 27 people who left reviews on Google gave an average rating of 3.3 out of five stars. Some individuals described the center as a “joke,” noting difficulties in receiving proper treatment due to overcrowding, rude staff, insufficient counseling, and an uncaring atmosphere. On the other hand, some alumni praised the counselors and found the program highly effective.

Samantha wrote a negative review: “Never go to this place!! They don’t care about their patients at all. They just care about the money we bring.” However, alum Dolly disagreed, writing: “This place helped give me my life back that drugs had taken from many years ago. I can only say great things about this place.”

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The two loved ones surveyed by Best-rehabs.com provided lukewarm to positive feedback. They both gave three out of five stars when asked if they would recommend the treatment center and for the facility’s counseling options.

Although one reviewer gave the facility four stars for the overall effectiveness of its treatment, the other declined to rate this category. The reviewers’ comments were vague. Samantha wrote, “Worked well with patients and provided them with what was needed,” but added that “Mental health first was a weakness.”

WHAT STAFF SAY

Best-rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from employees or former staff members of this facility. However, the three people who left reviews for Hagerstown Treatment Center on Indeed provided negative to neutral feedback.

One former employee gave a one-star review and mentioned counselors having a caseload of 50 clients, the maximum allowed by state law. They noted that the workload made it difficult for counselors to spend quality time with clients during sessions.

FINANCING

Hagerstown Treatment Center accepts private insurance, Medicaid, and private pay. The two individuals surveyed by Best-rehabs.com rated the center one and three out of five stars for its affordability.
