ABOUT ST. CLAIR COUNTY COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH
Based out of Port Huron, Mich., St. Clair County Community Mental Health provides a range of outpatient-based services and programs for adults and youth struggling with psychiatric disorders, as well as those with co-occurring substance abuse concerns. Through its three facilities in St. Clair County, with locations in the communities of Port Huron, Capac, and Marine City, the community-based treatment provider offers outpatient programs and comprehensive case management services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Before participating in a service or program, intake coordinators may conduct an initial assessment to determine life areas that need to be addressed. Case management is a large function of St. Clair County Community Mental Health, and the assessment may help clinicians form a comprehensive plan for clients. Along with case management, the treatment provider offers specialized, outpatient-based services and programs to help clients improve functioning, self-esteem, and independent living skills.
Designed for clients struggling with co-occurring substance abuse concerns, the organization’s Passage to Recovery program utilizes education and case management to assist clients recover from addiction. Throughout the week, St. Clair County Community Mental Health facilitates specialized classes concerning substance abuse, as well as other related topics.
Along with gender-specific classes that focus on issues common among men and women struggling with substance abuse, the organization offers classes on anger management, dual recovery, coping skills, improving social skills, grief and loss, and tips for living a healthy, sober lifestyle.
St. Clair County Community Mental Health also offers outpatient-based counseling for adults and adolescents struggling with a primary psychiatric disorder. The organization also provides ongoing psychiatric evaluations and medication management. In addition to its traditional treatments, the facilities holds regular music, art and writing therapy sessions for groups to promote free expression, improve self-esteem, and reduce stress. The organization also facilitates cooking classes, vocational training, and supportive employment through its cafe and convenience store.
To offer additional support within the community, St. Clair County Community Mental Health provides robust, comprehensive case management services. Case management includes linkages and referrals to treatment programs, self-help support groups, supportive housing, and other community-based resources, as well as client advocacy. The facility also offers specialized case management services for military veterans.

St. Clair County Community Mental Health employs a large, multidisciplinary team comprised of psychiatrists, child and adolescent therapists, licensed counselors, behavioral technicians, peer specialists, and case managers.

On Google reviews, alum Ethel gave the facility a perfect five out of five-star rating. Praising the facility’s life skills training, the alum also wrote that the organization offered “many other resources for people with mental health issues.”

The sole loved one polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave the facility moderate ratings for most areas of the facility. Out of five stars, an anonymous family member gave three-star ratings for the facility’s counseling options, its discharge planning, and its ability to treat co-occurring disorders. However, the survey respondent gave a four-star rating for the treatment staff’s level of experience and training. “My brother in law was in therapy there and it seemed to help him,” the loved one wrote.
On its official Facebook page, which the organization can manage, 33 individuals gave the facility an average rating of 4.5 out of five stars. Family members tended to praise the facility’s staff and the effectiveness of its services. “My son has been receiving services for a few years and I love and appreciate everyone I’ve met through cmh. They are wonderful,” Barbra, a representative reviewer, wrote.
FINANCING
St. Clair County Community Mental Health accepts private insurance and Medicaid. The organization also offers its services on a sliding fee scale, based on the individual’s income.
