ABOUT TAYLOR LIFE CENTER/OWOSSO A DIVISION OF CONSUMER SERVICES, INC.
Founded in 2004, Taylor Life Center is a nonprofit organization that provides behavioral health services to clients seeking recovery from substance use issues. With a presence in 27 Michigan counties, the center has grown into a multi-million dollar operation. The clinic in Owossa offers outpatient treatment to clients aged three and over. Co-occurring disorders are treated at the clinic, although detox services are not available.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon entry into the program, clients may undergo psychiatric evaluations. Treatment plans are tailored to meet the emotional and psychological needs of each individual, couple, or family. The center utilizes evidence-based modalities such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and psychiatric medications when necessary. Individual, group, and family therapy are also provided, along with counseling on special topics such as anger management and batterer’s intervention. The center also addresses various mental health issues including depression, PTSD, and eating disorders. Adolescent clients have their own treatment group. Transportation is available between the clinic and the client’s home.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The staff at Taylor Life Center includes a psychiatrist (M.D. and D.O.), a nurse practitioner (CNP), clinical social workers at the master’s level, and LPC professional counselors at the master’s level. According to current and former employees, the center has a positive atmosphere due to supportive co-workers. However, they feel that upper management provides little support. A former therapist stated that they enjoyed working with their co-workers but found the management’s expectations to be unrealistic and unhelpful to clients.
