ABOUT ALLINA MENTAL HEALTH – UNITY CLINIC
Part of Allina Health, a Minnesota-based network of health care facilities, Unity Clinic of Fridley Medical Center provides a range of treatments for adults, adolescents, and children struggling with a psychiatric disorder, as well as adults struggling with substance abuse disorders. Located in the community of Fridley, a suburb of Minneapolis, Unity Clinic does not offer on-site detoxification.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Unity Clinic combines pharmacological intervention and ongoing medication monitoring and management with counseling sessions to address issues contributing to mental health difficulties and help minimize symptoms. To identify symptoms and diagnose the psychiatric disorder, clients undergo a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation.
Along with medication management, Unity Clinic offers both group and individualized counseling sessions. To provide relevant treatment, group counseling sessions may be specialized to treat specific disorders, symptoms (such as anger), and age groups. Clients may also attend educational workshops to learn more about their specific condition and to help individuals develop relevant coping techniques.
In some cases of depression, Unity Clinic may also utilize electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) or transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), which provides brief magnetic pulses that stimulate under-active, mood-affecting areas of the brain. For anxiety, techniques such as music therapy, meditation, and yoga help clients learn to cope. Additionally, co-occurring conditions can be addressed as the facility is equipped to treat include schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Programming to treat substance abuse disorders consists of group counseling sessions, educational classes, and family participation. Clients may utilize these services while staying in a structured living facility, via outpatient care from home, or while under 24-hour care of the hospital.
The clinic also offers a relapse prevention program for those who have undergone prior treatment. This program requires clients to attend one session weekly.

Unity Clinic employs a multidisciplinary team comprised of psychiatrists and clinical psychologists with specialties in substance abuse, family and marriage, as well as children and adolescents.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Feedback concerning the facility is limited; however, the two loved ones polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided mixed feedback. While one gave a perfect five-star rating for the treatment’s overall effectiveness, the other offered just two out of five stars for this category. Though the negative reviewer commented, “The staff was professional and kind,” they also cited poor sleeping arrangements and a lack of activities as weaknesses. “It’s expensive and boring,” the loved one added, also giving only two stars to exercise & extracurricular options, holistic offerings, and affordability. The positive reviewer wrote only, “Good facility.”.
Elsewhere online, for the hospital as a whole (as opposed to just mental health services), 3.3 stars were generated from 12 users.[1] In these Google reviews, certain staff members were often cited as the reason for positive feedback, and problems with financing and insurance plans were often listed as the reason for the negative comments.
FINANCING
Allina Health accepts a wide range of private insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, HealthPartners, Aetna, Cigna, and Humana. The health care provider also accepts Medicare and Medicaid, and financial assistance is available to eligible patients through the health care provider’s Partners Care Program. Discounts on treatment costs may also be applied to uninsured patients.
