ABOUT MAYO CLINIC IN ROCHESTER, MN

The Intensive Addiction Program lasts for 30 days and includes group therapy, individual sessions with a counselor or psychiatrist, education therapies, and personal time. Evenings include programming, recreation and involvement in community self-help groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). Throughout treatment, clients may receive Motivational Enhancement, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, spiritual support and mindfulness techniques, and relaxation and alternative therapies. Anti-craving medication may also be prescribed when necessary.
The Outpatient Addiction Program at Mayo Clinic offers half-day addiction services in a four week program. Treatment includes individual and group therapy, lab testing, medication management, and ongoing nursing assessments*.
Family members of clients are involved in treatment at Mayo Clinic through regular Family Days. Each program at Mayo Clinic concludes with a three-stepprogram as well as a post-treatment maintenance plan and psychiatric or psychological follow-up care.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Addiction services are provided in the Generose Building at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Rochester, Minnesota. Participants in the Intensive Addiction program have private rooms and bathrooms in the facility’s hospital-like setting. Program residents also have access to wi-fi and may use personal cell phones and computers during free time. Treatment occurs on an open unit, and clients are able to leave the grounds at first with other patients and eventually on their own.
The treatment team at Mayo Clinic includes addiction psychiatrists, addiction specialists, licensed alcohol and drug counselors, licensed clinical social workers, registered nurses, an internal medicine specialist, a recreational therapist, a dietitian, a nicotine dependence counselor, a chaplain, and a neuropsychologist.
