ABOUT MIDWEST RECOVERY CENTERS

Midwest Recovery Centers (MRC), located in Kansas City, Mo., is a group of long-term sober living residences with extended treatment for men dealing with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health disorders. The rehab program is based on 12-Step and evidence-supported psychotherapy and was established in 2016.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

At Midwest Recovery Centers, residents go through two phases of treatment. During the first approximately 90 days, men attend at least 18 hours of group therapy and one individual therapy session each week, along with daily 12-step meetings.

The second phase, which lasts up to six months, is less structured. Residents are required to obtain employment and attend around 10 hours of group and individual counseling each month. They are also expected to continue participating in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) programs.

MRC incorporates a variety of modalities in its treatment approach, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and rational-emotive behavior therapy (REBT). Residents also receive education on topics such as grief, family of origin, nutrition, and anger management. Additionally, loved ones are encouraged to participate in recovery through educational and counseling sessions.

MRC offers dual diagnosis treatment to address conditions such as eating disorders, trauma, and personality disorders. Clients receive medical and wellness check-ups and undergo random drug testing throughout their stay.

Following residential rehab, MRC provides aftercare in the form of weekly outpatient meetings and continued drug testing for up to a year.

  • It is well integrated into the recovery community: intensive outpatient and counselling in house, plus at least one NA/AA meeting a day - they attend about 4-6 different groups each week. The residential component, living in a structured living environment in the suburbs of a wealthy county, is excellent. Clients move into a nice house, keep it clean, cook their own meals, bond, re-learn activities of daily living. It's good stuff. It's not suited for people with severe mental illnesses. It would also benefit from having more clients from more places. Still, it's the best program I've seen so far. Clients get a safe place to live and recover without distractions for 2-3 months, then are asked to get a job and live in a safe environment for a few more months. They learn how to live, then how to live with money in their pockets, all while having the shelter of a structured living environment with 24 hour peer support. Everyone on the treatment staff - everyone- is in recovery in a 12 step program. Every member of peer support has lived in and successfully graduated from a structured living environment (most at a well known group of self-run recovery houses). When clients are ready to leave, they are already enmeshed in a recovery network that help them with the next step - be it private housing or a fellowship house. MRC is new, but it has incredibly high retention and success rates so far.

  • This program provides a long term plan for recovery, and the environment to do so. There is peers support staff on 24/7. Clients are exposed to 12 step meetings and attend them regularly. The phase system allows clients to grow and develop at their own pace. While learning valuable skills: budgeting, meal planning, time management, and respect for themselves and others. Being a young program that isn't well known. I love working at midwest recovery centers. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable with addiction/alcoholism and recovery. The exposure of clients to the 12 step process and meetings is new and refreshing. This is the perfect program that combines IOP with a safe sober living environment.

  • The strengths start with the CEO. And then the clinical director. The staff are some of the top qualified peer mentors. They adhere to all needs of their clients. Things promptly began when they're supposed to. I'll clients are treated fairly and respectfully. And 9 12 step meetings are provided every week along with one on one. And group settings. The housing and residential is set up at a very very high-quality. The houses are clean and kept up to acceptable maintenance. One of the greatest things that I enjoy about Midwest Recovery Center's. Is that they use the 12 step program very very seriously. Everyone is open-minded. And no one goes without. If you're serious about recovery or have a loved one that needs serious recovery. This facility is the one that I would recommend to anyone. I'm just sorry when I needed recovery that there wasn't a program like this that I knew existed.

  • Midwest Recovery Centers is a practical approach to recovery with a multi phase approach to IOP. Great exposure to 12 step meetings as well as experienced and friendly staff. Peer support on hand 24/7. The clients get to focus on recovery without being in an inpatient facility. They also get to learn life skills ie budgeting and others early on. The sober housing also gives not only a safe place for clients, but comradery with the other clients. Giving them the opportunity to put in to practice what they've learned or share in what they are going through.

  • Great success rate as facility focuses on a behavior modification based clinical platform enhanced through daily 12 step participation. Patients are encouraged to embrace their own personal recovery while learning principles of accountability and responsibility. The facility location allows for convenient travel between 12 step function and group therapy meetings, but also extra-curricular activities such as pools and gym. MRC is proponent to multi-phasal treatment, and encourages patients to become employed after the first 90 days. 24 hour peer support staff are experienced with issues relating to recovery and are kind and ethical with their approach to clients.
