Bergen Regional – Evergreen Substance Abuse Treatment Center

ABOUT NEW BRIDGE MEDICAL CENTER – EVERGREEN SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT CENTER

Located in Paramus, N.J., Evergreen Substance Abuse Treatment Center provides a comprehensive range of treatment programs for adults struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental disorders. The facility offers on-site detox services, residential care, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and partial hospitalization program (PHP). The facility is part of the New Bridge Medical Center, previously named Bergen Regional.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

During admission, clients undergo phone screenings which often last 10 to 15 minutes. Once admitted, clients then undergo an initial assessment to determine an appropriate level of care. According to Evergreen’s website, medical detoxification is available on-site. Clients are usually in detoxification protocol for four to eight days.

Treatment is based on the 12-step model of recovery, in addition to evidence-based approaches. Clients participate in group, individual, and family counseling sessions, along with behavioral counseling. The inpatient programs offer 24-hour treatment services.

Bergen’s Evergreen center PHP program meets on weekdays for five hours a day. The program includes daily medical and psychiatric help and nursing attention.

Clients in the IOP program meet for three hours a day, and can either be in a day or evening program. The treatment team works with clients to determine the amount of days each client needs treatment per week. In addition, individuals in the OP program can attend specialized group therapy sessions geared toward anxiety, depression, or life skill development.

  • Bergen Regional – Evergreen Substance Abuse Treatment Center Reviews

    Unknown. Wasn't me.
This place was horrible! I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy! Very rude and incompetent workers! The check in clerk is the rudest person I have ever met and has no business working in healthcare, her and the other employees treat the patients and families like low life scum. These people are here for help and you have no compassion or customer service skills, this place is also very unorganized and do not tell the patients what is needed to be admitted until you are there and then they turn you away. You should be out of business! Thanks for nothing Bergen Regional!

  • They deal with a large number of patients that present a large variety of issues. That experience shows in their patient evaluations and treatment options. It's almost always at capacity, leading to waiting times of up to 2 weeks. Expansion is needed badly. It's a great facility for those of us who choose to be there. Staff there has seen it all, and the nurses and the support staff are very caring and attentive. The food is awful though.

  • Easy to get into. Not enough one on one counseling. Takes charity care has a 30 day in patient program and accessible by bus.
Stay away!! Bergen has a very uncoordinated program. Their intake didn't tell our loved one that he had to bring bank statements and then the charity clerk, was very rude. To that staff member, you have no business working in healthcare with such a heartless personality. Stay away from this place. This is no way to treat people who are in a life or death fight to beat this disease!

  • This facility is a good place but there are better places...I'd look for other options. It was great at supporting people who needed help. However, it was overcrowded.

  • It has very good patient interactive activities, such as the group counseling and team projects, to help cure the mind and spirit. The one on one patient care and visitation are also beneficial aspects of the facility. However, it is too sterile of an environment.

  • I took my boyfriend to Bergen Regional and they did not want to check him in. He went through a physiological check, and they involved me in the decision making. He was a repeat "visitor" to this facility. Upon much begging he was finally accepted and stayed for over a month. They are committed to the well-being of the patients. However, the counselors do not know their patients as well as they could. Also, the visiting hours and phone hours were slim to none.

  • They are teaching them structure, coping skills. My daughter is being discharged in 5 days & they helped her get funding for a Recovery House that original charged 600$ a month. Plus in time I will see how well they got through to her to see if she has learned that Active Addiction is not NO WAY to live.
