ABOUT NEW HORIZON TREATMENT SERVICES
Located in Trenton, N.J., New Horizon Treatment Services (NHTS) operates recovery treatment programs for adults facing issues of substance use and psychiatric disorders. The programs offered by NHTS include opioid abuse, co-occurring disorders, and court-related convictions. On-site detoxification services are available, as well as outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial care services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon completion of a thorough intake process, clients are directed to one of four unique treatment programs at New Horizon: the Opioid Treatment Program, the Special Services Program, the Mental Health Program, or the Criminal Justice Program.
The Opioid Treatment Program provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT) options, such as methadone or Suboxone, along with ongoing support from a medical staff. Clients are assigned an individual counselor and may participate in other addiction groups and psychiatric services, as appropriate.
The Special Services Program is designed for individuals with co-occurring disorders and offers counseling groups focused on relapse prevention, stress reduction techniques, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and more. The Mental Health Program provides similar services for those with anxiety, grief, depression, and other mental health issues.
The Criminal Justice Program collaborates with local and federal court systems to offer a medically-assisted jail recovery program and assistance for individuals with DUI convictions, anger management, and domestic violence issues.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
New Horizon is staffed by a team of licensed social workers, certified alcohol and drug counselors, licensed practical nurses, and interns under the guidance of a Psy.D.

The anonymous loved ones polled by Best-rehabs.com praised the effectiveness of the staff and counselors, as well as the flexibility of the programs at New Horizons. However, one loved one mentioned concerns about the cleanliness of the facility and its location. Some loved ones also remarked on the cost and difficulty of admission, but still believed that the treatment received was worth it.
