Located at Rochester Regional Health’s United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, N.Y., which is about 35 miles outside of Rochester, Hope Haven provides inpatient treatment to adults struggling with addiction.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
All clients receive a comprehensive assessment prior to admission to determine the appropriate level of care. Treatment at Hope Haven is individualized and typically lasts 28 days, however some clients may stay longer if needed. According to the facility’s website, the multidisciplinary program utilizes both 12-step methodology and alternative approaches to sobriety and recovery.
Services at Hope Haven include 24-hour medical monitoring, addiction education, relapse prevention, spirituality in recovery groups, recreational therapy, self-help groups, and life skills workshops such as anger and stress management. Referrals for continuing care are provided to all clients upon discharge.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
All of Hope Haven’s program activities are facilitated by a physician certified in addiction medicine. In addition to a 24-hour staff of nurses, the treatment team includes licensed counselors, chemical dependency aides, and a recreational therapist. The 20-bed facility is set in a secure unit on the second floor of the hospital’s Jerome Center. In addition to client bedrooms, the space consists of group rooms, staff offices, nurses stations, and comfortable lounge areas. M.G., the one former client polled by Best-rehabs.com to date, gave Hope Haven a mostly positive review, awarding the facility four or five out of five stars across most evaluated metrics, including treatment effectiveness, cleanliness, counseling options, 12-step incorporation, and treatment of co-occurring disorders. “Have been sober for 26 years now,” they wrote.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
The two loved ones surveyed by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave Hope Haven mediocre to positive feedback. T.H. gave the facility four out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness, its family participation, and its treatment of co-occurring disorders, and three stars for its cleanliness, its exercise and leisure activities, and its connectivity. And despite the fact that the facility’s website says that it offers alternative treatment approaches, the reviewer gave Hope Haven just one star for its holistic offerings and wrote: “They should offer atheistic/agnostic programs for those with different beliefs!”
The other loved one, who participated in the survey anonymously, gave Hope Haven three out of five stars for its family participation, its cleanliness, and its administrative and discharge procedures, and just two stars for its exercise and leisure activities, its treatment of co-occurring disorders, its holistic offerings, and its counseling options. “Not many programs,” the reviewer noted.
