ABOUT HOPE VALLEY, INC. IN DOBSON, NC

Hope Valley, Inc., located in Dobson, N.C., offers residential treatment to men struggling with alcohol addiction. The private, non-profit organization was founded in 1968 and operates two other residential facilities: one for men in Hickory, N.C., and one for women in Pilot Mountain, N.C.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The facility’s treatment program follows the 12-Step method. To be admitted, clients should contact the facility directly by phone. Throughout treatment, clients participate in individual and group counseling, group learning sessions, media sessions involving study of recovery materials, and spiritual activities. Families are included in the treatment program through family programming offered roughly twice a month.

Men at Hope Valley must adhere to a structured daily schedule that begins at 7 a.m. and ends with bedtime at 11 p.m. Breakfast is served daily at 7:30 followed by devotions, an hour and a half of chores, morning class, lunch, afternoon class, and dinner.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team includes counselors who are recovered alcoholics. There is currently no further information provided by Hope Valley regarding treatment staff, but one of the three alum polled by Best-rehabs.com stated he believes facility staff are experienced and well trained.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The facility offers shared bedrooms for male clients in a dorm-like setting. Each bedroom has two twin beds, two nightstands, two dressers, and a closet. Hope Valley has a small weight room, a TV room, and provides laundry services twice per week. Basketball and walking trails are available for recreation, and there are several outdoor designated smoking areas. Clients are allowed the use of cell phones twice per day for 15 minutes.

When asked about strengths of Hope Valley, alumni mentioned that they enjoyed the fellowship and spiritual aspects of treatment and that they felt the curriculum was good. When asked about weaknesses of the program, alumni said they had too much free time, desired more of a variety of treatment options, felt the facility was old, and were served unhealthy food. One alum added additional commentary, saying, “Good facility affordable spiritual recommended highly saved my life.”

She felt that a strength of the facility was that there are “lots of staff” and a “good strategies in treatment.” When asked about weaknesses, she said she felt that the facility could improve upon the food and the size of the rooms. She also added, “Overall good facility for treating addictions.”

FINANCING

The cost of treatment at the facility is $3,500 for 28 days. If a client chooses to stay longer, the cost is $125 per day. Hope Valley does not accept insurance.
