ABOUT PARDEE HOSPITAL ADDICTION AND RECOVERY
Located at Pardee Hospital, one of 12 UNC Health Care hospitals, is PATHS, a short-term, 21-bed detoxification and psychiatry unit that specializes in treating dually-diagnosed individuals.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
PATHS (Psychiatric and Addictions Therapeutic Healing Services) is a short-term program that offers crisis stabilization and medical detoxification. According to its webpage, the program helps participants improve their coping skills, learn how to better manage their mental illness and addiction, and become more independent and self-reliant. Participation at 12-step meetings, like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, is also on schedule.
Referrals to emergency services as well as primary and mental health professionals are provided when needed.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Led by a medical director, the treatment team at PATHS consists of registered nurses, recreation therapists, and master’s level social workers.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
There is currently no information provided by the hospital regarding its living arrangements and related offerings. However, two Best-rehabs.com survey respondents gave five stars for the hospital’s accommodations and meals, while another gave three stars in these areas.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
In their anonymous Best-rehabs.com surveys, two alumni described the staff as a strength of the program, though one felt the doctors were a program weakness. “The doctors needs to tone it downs,” one explained. They both gave four or five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience, the counseling options available, the co-occurring treatment, and the administrative procedures.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Feedback provided by a loved one was more mixed. The anonymous reviewer told Best-rehabs.com that “treatment and mental and physical activity were wonderful but the time approved by insurance was just too short a time.” Still, they shared ratings of three or more stars for each of the above-mentioned categories.
