ABOUT COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER

Community Health Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that offers detoxification, residential, and outpatient services for adult men and women dealing with substance abuse. Additionally, medical care, educational seminars, and housing options are offered along with outpatient services for adolescents, provided by only 127 (31.3 percent) treatment centers in the state.

Community Health Center is also amongst the 30 percent of substance abuse treatment centers in Ohio to have medication management like Suboxone and methadone treatment available on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Community Health Center believes that addiction is a disease and provides individualized treatment plans. A holistic assessment plan is given at the beginning of treatment which includes individual, group, and family counseling, health care, and educational seminars. The residential program lasts between 90 and 120 days.

Vocational assistance, housing, case management, childcare services, and medical services are also offered. Additionally, this center is one of 176 (43.3 percent) Ohio treatment facilities with specialty programming for women, who can also move into sober-living facilities once they have completed the residential program.

Adolescent treatment includes individual and group therapy, animal assisted therapy, and a group for teen girls. In Ohio, 2.16 percent of adolescents ages 12 to 17 displayed alcohol use disorder in 2016, and 4.29 percent experienced substance use disorder in that year. Detoxification at this center will last three to five days, followed by Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP), which offers evening hours.

Detoxification may include Suboxone and methadone treatment.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Community Health Center employs master’s level counselors, a medical director, and a clinical director. Indeed, all substance abuse treatment centers in the state of Ohio have continuing education requirements for staff. The two Best-rehabs.com survey respondents to date awarded the staff’s level of training experience a three-star and a four-star rating out of five stars.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The center has 28 beds, offering much availability as the median number of individuals at any one residential treatment facility as of 2016 was just 18 clients. The two individuals to submit feedback to Best-rehabs.com to date, a former client and a loved one, both gave four out of five stars to accommodations & amenities as well as meals & nutrition. When surveyed on the facility’s cleanliness, the alum gave three stars, and the loved one gave four.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The sole alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date indicated that they would recommend it to others. “Great people, reliable teachings, strong support,” the anonymous alum wrote, awarding four out of five stars to every surveyed category, including treatment effectiveness, exercise & leisure activities, holistic offerings, counseling options, and whether or not treatment was worth the cost. Despite also giving four stars to admissions & discharge procedures, they felt that the facility’s main weakness was a lack of “Follow-up programs.”

At the time of this writing on Google, 13 reviewers gave an average 3.7 stars.[1] The specially-tailored programming received high praise, with particular emphasis on the value of the adolescent track and the women-only counseling sessions. “They take care of the mind and body with counseling, testing, case management, specialized women’s services, trauma-competent care, childcare,” one representative comment reads. Feedback about the level of care was a bit more lukewarm, with reviewer D.D. feeling frustrated about the “Many mixed messages.” Still, alum T.H. considered the staff to be “wonderful.”

WHAT FAMILY & FRIENDS SAY

The sole loved one surveyed by Best-rehabs.com to date gave moderately positive feedback. Feeling grateful that “Beds become available faster than other nearby facilities,” this loved one indicated that the treatment was worth the cost, and awarded four stars to counseling options. Low, two-star ratings went to the level of family participation and the admissions & discharge procedures, however. “Poor percentage of clients who maintain sobriety,” this individual listed as a facility weakness.

WHAT STAFF SAY

The only staff member responding to a Best-rehabs.com poll gave mostly positive feedback. The reviewer, Maureen, gave five out of five stars for staff experience and training and indicated that she’d recommend the facility for treatment. She wrote: “Excellent clinical staff. Clinical and medical staff are well versed in evidenced based practice and have been offering specialized treatment for women.” However, she noted that while the facility was okay for “psych education” it was “not great for therapeutic groups.”

  • Kind understanding people who did not make you feel judged and offered a lot of support. I liked that they kept you as comfortable as possible with the withdrawal by giving medication that helped with the symptoms and then weaning you off and you got the same when it came to emotional support plenty of counseling and group meetings to help get you through some of the toughest days of your life

  • Excellent clinical staff. Clinical and medical staff are well versed in evidenced based practice and have been offering specialized treatment for women. Medication-assisted program combined medical and clinical components to offer comprehensive care. Most clinical staff are licensed in Chemical Dependency and Mental Health. Support groups, out-pt, IOP and residential services, transitional housing and permanent housing are available. Ok for psych education, not great for therapeutic groups.
