Located in Cheswick, Penn., Western Pennsylvania Adult & Teen Challenge is a faith-based center that offers short-term, long-term residential treatment to individuals struggling with addiction. Medical detox is also available here.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to the facility’s website, Western Pennsylvania Adult & Teen Challenge’s long-term, faith-based program utilizes an adapted version of the 12-step program, which is combined with Bible study and community service. Resident typically stay in this program between 11 and 14 months, and the program is made of two phases.
In order to entire the long-term program, clients must complete the first phase of treatment, which is completion of a traditional faith-based Teen Challenge program or finishing the short-term program.
The induction phase lasts between four and five months and is called “spiritual boot camp.” It’s designed to individuals who need help with addictions. Programming in this stage includes group studies and a personal students program.
Phase two is 10 months long and is located at the corporate headquarters, which is in Rehresburg, Penn. Treatment includes 12-step programs, Bible study, and community service. Also, a G.E.D. program is available. The center utilizes evidence-based practices, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy.
The short-term residential addiction program, which is clinically based, focuses on individualized treatment. Programming includes cognitive behavioral therapy and integrated mental health services. The approach in this program is motivational, strength-based, and relationally focused. Services also include life-skill development, such as coping and social skills.
Individuals in this program can expect daily group sessions as well as one to two individual counseling sessions a week. This program is holistic, treatment includes help for biological, psychological, sociological, and spiritual. Residents typically stay in this program for 30 days.
