ABOUT CORNERSTONE
Established in 1973 and located on a wooded plain in Greenwood, S.C., Cornerstone provides outpatient treatment services for adolescents and adults seeking recovery from issues with substance use, including gambling problems. Detox services are not available, but counselors can refer clients.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment is offered on both an outpatient basis and an intensive outpatient (IOP) basis. In the outpatient program, clients and counselors develop an individualized plan of treatment that will include a combination of group, individual, or family counseling services, with group therapy occurring typically once per week.
The IOP program, named Another Way, follows an evidence-based Matrix Model of recovery. Groups are centered around specialized topics including early recovery skills, relapse prevention, and family relationships. Sessions in Greenwood are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
In both programs for adolescent clients aged under 16, a legal guardian must be present for the first session and sign consent for treatment. Cornerstone also offers a DUI program, an employee assistance program, and preventative services. Pregnant and IV using clients receive priority during admissions.
