ABOUT MANAGED CARE CENTER FOR ADDICTIVE/OTHER DISORDERS, INC.

Based in Lubbock, Texas, Managed Care Center for Addictive & Other Disorders, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization that provides a continuum of treatment programs for adults struggling with chemical dependency, as well as co-occurring disorders. The organization offers gender-specific residential programs for adult men and women, including pregnant women and mothers with children, and a range of outpatient programs for adults and adolescents.

Medical detoxification services are available on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

To determine an appropriate level of care, clients participate in an initial substance abuse assessment to determine an individualized treatment plan. Clients who require a supportive, supervised environment to facilitate early recovery may be referred for residential care. The gender-specific residential programs, known as the Walker Houses, blend evidence-based treatment methods with immersion into the 12-step model of recovery.

During residential treatment, clients participate in a structured schedule of individual and group counseling sessions, as well as educational classes, life skills workshops, and recreational activities. They receive an introduction to the principles and practices of 12-Step and attend on- and off-site 12-step meetings and Big Book “step-work” study sessions.

Gender-specific programming focuses on relevant topics that generally affect men or women struggling with chemical dependency in a comfortable environment. Pregnant and mothering women also may attend parenting classes. In addition, Managed Care Center offers specialized programming for individuals with co-occurring disorders, which may include psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and disorder-specific counseling.

The organization offers three tiers of outpatient treatment: an intensive outpatient program (IOP), outpatient program (OP), and supportive outpatient treatment programs. Outpatient services involve educational classes, group counseling sessions, and life skills workshops. At minimum, clients also receive individual therapy once every two weeks. A special women’s OP may incorporate parenting sessions, and an adolescent OP may require home visits and family participation to ensure the family’s commitment to recovery.

Before clients complete treatment, clinicians provide discharge planning and case management services to ensure clients receive aftercare support.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Managed Care Center’s treatment staff comprises a medical team, substance abuse counselors, licensed professional counselors, counseling interns, and case managers.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

During residential treatment, clients stay at Managed Care Center’s 53-bed inpatient facility, located on seven acres in rural west Lubbock. On-site chefs prepare three meals daily and can accommodate dietary restrictions. Family participation and group therapy are held on Saturdays and visitation takes place on Sundays. Childcare is offered to mothers of young children during treatment sessions.

The two alumni polled by Best-rehabs.com generally approved of the residential facilities. One alum submitted a perfect five-star rating for the facility’s cleanliness and upkeep, while the other gave it three stars.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The two alumni polled by Best-rehabs.com to date provided mixed reviews of Managed Care Center. They awarded perfect five and high four-star reviews for the major survey categories: treatment effectiveness (an average of four stars), accommodations/amenities (4.5 stars), and meals and nutrition (five stars). Although these former clients gave three and four out of five stars for the level of family participation and three stars for the treatment staff’s experience and training, they offered only one and two stars for counseling options and connectivity. Awarding a five-star rating for the facility’s ability to treat co-occurring concerns, alum R.C.S. still wanted Best-rehabs.com to know: “A weakness was that it was understaffed.”

On the facility’s Facebook page, which the organization can manage, reviewers offered largely favorable feedback. [1] Of the six individuals who posted reviews, five were a perfect five stars for an overall rating, on average, of 4.2 out of five stars. “I love this place!!! Thank you to everyone there,” reviewer Tiffany wrote.

FINANCING

Managed Care Center accepts most private insurance plans, Medicaid, and Medicare. Treatment costs are determined by a sliding fee scale, based on the client’s ability to pay, and the Texas Department of State Health Services may provide financial assistance to clientele who qualify.
