ABOUT SERENITY HOUSE DETOX – HOUSTON
Founded in March of 2017, Serenity House Detox of Houston, Texas provides comprehensive, short-term stabilization services and inpatient treatment for adults struggling with chemical dependency. The Houston location is one of three facilities operated by Serenity House, who also offers detoxification facilities in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, Fla. Along with medically-supervised detoxification services, Serenity House Detox also provides programming to promote sustained, long-term recovery.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to Serenity House Detox’s website, at the start of treatment clients undergo an initial substance abuse assessment, which is used to determine an individualized treatment plan.
The facility provides ongoing assessments throughout treatment to continually evaluate the client’s physical and emotional health during the detoxification process.
To ensure clients undergo detoxification as safely and comfortably as possible, the facility utilizes medication-assisted treatment to help alleviate the discomfort of withdrawal and help curb cravings. According to the facility’s website, the average length of treatment is seven days, although the length of treatment is determined by the specific needs of the client.
Along with treating the physical effects of chemical dependency, Serenity House Detox also addresses the emotional and mental issues associated with addiction and early recovery. When stable enough to participate, clients attend individual counseling sessions to identify any underlying issues that may contribute to addictive behavior, including any mental health difficulties.
In addition, clients are introduced to the principles and practices of 12-Step. Clients may be invited to attend on-site meetings, study fellowship literature, and participate in workshops. While individuals are encouraged to learn the tenets of 12-Step, clients are free to explore alternative peer-led support fellowships, such as SMART Recovery or the faith-based fellowship, Celebrate Recovery.
Serenity House also provides chiropractic services and meditation therapy.. According to its website, realigning the spine promotes healthy neurotransmitter function, which contributes to mood and emotions.
Once a client is physically stable, clinicians may provide aftercare planning assistance to help clients locate support and treatment to continue their recovery. Aftercare planning may include linkages and referrals to sober housing, long-term treatment programs, outpatient-based services, and community-based resources.

Serenity House Detox’s website notes it employs a multidisciplinary team of physicians experienced in addiction medicine, nurses, licensed substance abuse counselors, mental health technicians, and a support staff.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
While specific information is limited concerning the facility’s accommodations and amenities, the facility’s website states that the Serenity House offers a homelike atmosphere that’s “welcoming” and “familiar.” Images sourced from the facility’s website revealed private and double-occupancy bedrooms, well-furnished lounging areas, outdoor patios, and landscaped lawns. An on-site chef prepares nutritious meals daily.
