ABOUT TROPICAL TEXAS BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
Located in the Texas city of Brownsville, Tropical Texas Behavioral Health (TTBH) offers outpatient substance abuse treatment services for adolescents and adults. Founded in 1967, Tropical Texas is dedicated to providing person-centered mental health, intellectual and developmental disabilities and substance use disorder services. Detox services are available on-site.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
In addition to self-referral, TTBH provides outreach, screening, assessment, and referral service to Department of Social and Health and Services (DSHS) designated priority populations. This includes individuals in jail, on probation, coming from an emergency room or health clinic, or from the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) offices.
Clients must meet the diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders in order to be admitted. In addition to inpatient detox, services for substance abuse treatment include intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for both adults and adolescents. The facility also contracts with local facilities to provide aftercare services for self-admitted clients. Federal pretrial and probation aftercare is offered to adult clients who are awaiting trial for drug-related charges.
