ABOUT HIGHLAND RIDGE HOSPITAL — ACADIA
Set on ten acres of green space to the south of Salt Lake City, Highland Ridge Hospital is a behavioral health and addiction treatment hospital operated by Acadia Healthcare. This Midvale, Utah, facility provides medical detox, inpatient treatment for adults, and intensive outpatient programs for adults and adolescents struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders. Treatment is trauma-informed and holistic, incorporating evidence-based psychotherapy and experiential modalities. Among the more than 500 Acadia facilities nationwide is a long-term residential treatment center for children and young adults in Butte, Montana.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Initial assessments for treatment at Acadia’s Highland Ridge Hospital are available by medical referral or on a walk-in basis. Both physical and psychosocial evaluations are provided. Clients are typically enrolled in a primary psychiatric or addictive diseases track or the dual diagnosis track.
Inpatient treatment that begins with detoxification takes place in a setting the hospital’s website describes as “serene.” While individualized care is emphasized, all detox plans involve nutritional treatment.
Substance use disorder patients can expect to attend multiple groups each day, including educational sessions and 12-step meetings. In addition to individual psychotherapy and family counseling, patients also participate in such holistic offerings as meditation, yoga, pet therapy, and art therapy.
Patients enrolled in partial hospitalization (PHP), or day programming, meet for up to 30 hours per week and those in intensive outpatient programming (IOP) for up to 12 hours. Both levels of outpatient care are available to address psychiatric and chemical dependency conditions and involve the same modalities as inpatient treatment. The IOP also incorporates random drug screenings.
Aftercare planning begins during treatment, and is a priority in each program.
