Lion’s Gate Recovery is a faith-based recovery center for adults located in Southern Utah. Spirituality and family values are important elements to the therapeutic regime at Lion’s Gate Recovery, which incorporates the 12-step philosophy along with faith promoting activities, one-on-one counseling and adventure based counseling.
ABOUT LION’S GATE RECOVERY
Located in the community of St. George in southern Utah, along the Arizona border, Lion’s Gate Recovery provides one of the 70 (29.8 percent) residential inpatient treatment programs in the state for individuals struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health disorders. The program is faith-based and lasts 30, 60, or 90 days.
If necessary, the facility also provides medically-monitored detoxification to help alleviate withdrawal symptoms, offered at only 25 (10.6 percent) substance abuse treatment centers in Utah.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, clients undergo an initial assessment to guide clinicians in developing and implementing an individualized treatment plan. Lion’s Gate Recovery blends evidence-based treatment approaches, holistic methods, and adventure therapies to promote recovery. The facility also provides pharmacogenetic testing, which helps to determine if certain medications may be appropriate. The facilities offers both medication-assisted treatment to help cravings and medication management to address symptoms of psychiatric disorders.
During residential treatment, clients participate in group, individual, and family/couples counseling sessions. Therapy sessions are designed to help clients regulate emotions and address the links between destructive thinking patterns and addictive behaviors. Clients also attend psycho-educational classes and attend motivational presentations. To involve loved ones in treatment, the facility provides Family Days for counseling sessions and educational seminars.
In addition to core programming, Lion’s Gate Recovery incorporates equine therapy and adventure-based treatments into treatment, including an outdoor ropes course. According to the facility’s website, these alternative therapies are designed to promote teamwork, communication, and responsibility. Residents may also participate in exercise programs and nutritional workshops to promote physical health and wellness.
The facility utilizes a brain-mapping method (SPECT Scans) to identify the effects of substance abuse on an individual’s brain. To treat brain areas that may have been affected, the facility provides clients with pharmaceutical-grade supplements and vitamins proven to promote brain function and regeneration.
Biosound therapy is also offered, which utilizes soothing colors, music therapy, sound frequencies, guided imagery, and biofeedback to treat a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, and insomnia. As a faith-based program, clients participate in worship services, Bible studies, and devotionals. Upon discharge from the program, clinicians may assist individuals to form a comprehensive aftercare plan to support lasting recovery.
