ABOUT FREE BY THE SEA

Located in Ocean Park, Wash., Free by the Sea is a residential treatment program for drug and alcohol addiction. The facility is approved by the State of Washington to provide treatment for dual diagnosis services. Although medically supervised detox is not available on-site at the facility, the facility will recommend a nearby detox facility before residential treatment.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment starts with a thorough assessment to determine the appropriate level of care. If the client needs a medical detox, he or she is referred to a nearby detox program that the facility has partnered with. The length of treatment is either 30, 60, or 90 days.

Treatment is evidence based and built on the 12 step model. Treatment includes individual and group therapy, anger management classes, and life skills education classes. There is a focus on relapse prevention and learning more about the cycle of addiction. Holistic treatment options are also available.

The facility is largely gender specific. Men and women participate in eating, classes, and other activities separately.

Outpatient care is only available for those who have completed the program and who live near the facility. This includes living off campus and continuing therapy.

Upon successful completion of the treatment program, clients receive an individual discharge plan based on the client’s unique needs. This includes tools, resources, and referrals to sober living facilities. Clients may live on campus for up to one year after program completion for transitional care.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the facility’s website, the facility maintains a low client to staff ratio. The treatment team consists of a psychiatrist, licensed social workers, psychiatric nurse practitioners, clinical psychologists, an addictionologist, and other behavioral health staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The facility is located on a five acre campus on the coast of Washington. Family visitation takes place on Sunday afternoons. Meals are provided by the facility at regularly scheduled times.
