ABOUT VETERANS AFFAIRS PUGET SOUND HEALTHCARE SYSTEM – AMERICAN LAKE DIVISION
Located just off American Lake in Tacoma, Wash., the American Lake division of the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System treats a range of mental health conditions, including addictive behaviors, anxiety and depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Outpatient services run Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Mental health treatment at VA Puget Sound Health Care System provides Vets with consultation, evaluation, and treatment for various mental and behavioral health issues including but not limited to the following: addictive and aggressive or behaviors, anxiety and depression, emotional management, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and relationship and vocational issues.
Also available at the VA in American Lake is MOVE!, a nationally recognized weight management program designed to help Vets manage their weight and improve their health overall.

On leadership at this VA are two registered nurses and a medical doctor.

FINANCING
The cost of treatment is not provided on this VA center’s website, although it does accept private health insurance. The VA maintains: “Generally, VA cannot bill Medicare, but can bill Medicare supplemental health insurance for covered services.”
