ABOUT SUNDOWN M RANCH

Founded in 1968, Sundown M Ranch is a nonprofit treatment center located on 30 acres of land near the Yakima River Canyon in Washington State. Our facility provides services to both adolescents and adults who are dealing with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. We offer a range of treatment programs including detox, residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), and standard outpatient care (OP). In addition, our organization supports peer-to-peer mentorship through our alumni program.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

At Sundown M Ranch, we strive to provide prompt admission to our facility. While same-day admission is sometimes available, most clients seeking residential treatment complete a pre-admission application. Our treatment begins with a detoxification period, and once stabilized, clients engage in a highly structured curriculum that incorporates the 12-Steps, individual, group, and family therapy, addiction education, and ongoing evaluation. We also offer specialized treatment tracks for older adults, pregnant and post-partum women, and individuals who have experienced a relapse. Fitness activities and chaplain services are available to all residents.

For adolescent clients, we offer a school program in collaboration with the Selah School District, allowing them to continue their education while undergoing treatment. Students not only earn academic credit but also receive daily physical education that includes basketball, volleyball, running, and weightlifting.

Outpatient treatment for clients and their families is available through individualized counseling and our IOP program, which combines addiction education with group counseling.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Alumni reviews submitted to Best-rehabs.com were generally positive, although some alumni expressed concerns about the staff’s training and the program’s counseling. One alumni found the quality of care to be inconsistent, while another noted that their counselor was still undergoing training and experiencing a relapse. Another reviewer felt that the facility could have better addressed their mental health concerns. However, most alumni expressed satisfaction with the care they received, finding it to be affordable and ultimately effective. Some alumni even expressed a desire to stay at the facility longer.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

When asked about the likelihood of recommending the facility, friends and family members gave an average rating of 3.83 out of five stars. They were particularly impressed with the program’s family participation and the facility’s cleanliness. The affordability of the program also received positive ratings. However, friends and family members were less impressed with the program’s holistic options and counseling, citing a need for more activities and more one-on-one sessions.

WHAT STAFF SAY

One staff member who was polled praised the program for being very supportive of both the family and the patient. However, they noted that the center focuses strictly on chemical dependency and does not recognize any mental health component in addiction.

Sundown M Ranch Reviews

Sundown is like a resort, and is by far the best inpatient treatment I have ever gone to. Even when I was in denial and was not done drinking and drugging yet, they taught me so much! I would highly recommend Sundown to everyone! Thanks so much Sundown! Today we share 4 years of sobriety, one day at a time! Thanks, Janie
My son went to Sundown. Spent 4 weeks there. I reached out to his counselor with absolutely no response back. My son stopped on his way home and bought alcohol, this is how poor the program was. There was not one follow up call or anything with him or I. Definitely not worth the money.
Been in recovery 19 years now since Sundown M. Thanks to all who work there.
I went to Sundown Ranch on Oct 8, 2018. It was a very positive and Spiritual experience. Most of the staff were amazing and the Administrators was especially kind and compassionate when my bi-polar mania kicked in. Sundown is not a dual-treatment facility so it was problematic. There was one upper management who was very controlling and condescending that I left after only 8 days. I was not court ordered, so they could not stop me. Fortunately I have stayed sober, but I was especially fragile during those first days, and she was very cruel. My counselor was having personal issues, so our group was left to run itself after the first 5 days. That too was catastrophic. We were all lost, and one girl decided that she was in charge, being manic at the time didn't help, because I wasn't going to take any crap from anyone. This girl was your classic bully. I stood up to her, and she didn't like it. It was not the kind of therapy that one would expect in a treatment center. Aside from those situations, I would have given MC Ranch 5 stars. Sometimes you just have too many Chiefs and not enough Indians. But hey, I am still sober, and kudos to the athletic Director... You were my saving grace when I couldn't hardly sleep (mania). You are so professional , so respectful, and so COOL!!!! I will NEVER ever forget you. I do wish that the Ranch allowed you to mingle with former residents. I would love to have you come and chill at our house on the Ocean... ugh!
like the setting and the house managers but i HATED my counselor she was rude and did not make me feel safe or comfortable
