ABOUT RIVER PARK HOSPITAL

River Park Hospital provides short-term inpatient care for adults, children, and adolescents dealing with mental health or substance abuse disorders. Residential care for children and adolescents that lasts up to one year is available. The Huntington, W.V., location also provides detoxification if needed though inpatient programming.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

River Park Hospital offers two specialized tracks for adults aged 18 and older: the Traditional Adult Track focuses on coping skills and conflict resolution while the Chemical Dependency Track assists clients recover from addiction. The hospital’s treatment methods are centered on the Stages of Change model. Adult inpatient services typically last seven to 10 days and include evidence-based modalities.

River Park Hospital offers four specialized residential programs for adolescents. The programs for adolescent sex offenders, adolescents with co-occurring disorders, and adolescents with severe psychiatric disorders incorporate individual, group, and family therapy, on-site education programs, medication management, and other therapies. The hospital also offers a child abuse reactive program (BRIDGE) that lasts six months to a year for children ages eight to 12.

The hospital can also refer clients to outpatient services and sober living facilities.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

River Park Hospital employs a multidisciplinary team of physicians, therapists, nurses, mental health technicians, activities specialists, case managers, and psychiatrists. Educational services are provided by state-licensed educators, a principal, and a school counselor.

Several individuals on the site complained about staff including Drew, who called them “rude” and “uncaring.”
