ABOUT A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

Located in the suburban San Fernando Valley, north of Los Angeles, A Step In The Right Direction is a private facility that provides treatment for men and women struggling with addiction or a dual diagnosis, including treatment for PTSD and eating disorders. Our services consist of outpatient-based detox (which is offered at just 15.1 percent of facilities in California), as well as a range of outpatient programs and gender-separate, sober living facilities.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

At A Step In The Right Direction, we utilize evidence-based practices and 12-step principles in our treatment approach. Clients who need to detox will follow a tailored medical program and will also be encouraged to enroll in an outpatient program to increase the likelihood of maintaining sobriety.

Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers the most intensive level of outpatient treatment, with 25 to 30 hours a week of programming, while our intensive outpatient program (IOP) meets three to five times per week. We also offer a less intensive once-per-week outpatient program designed as a step-down from the IOP.

Our programs consist of individual and group therapy (including evidence-based techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT), addiction education, life skills workshops, and 12-step meetings. We also encourage families and friends to participate in treatment and join self-help groups and 12-step meetings.

Additionally, we provide services such as education and job planning assistance, interaction with a sober coach, and transportation to meetings and other recovery-oriented activities.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

At A Step In The Right Direction, our staff-to-client ratio is 1:2. Our treatment team includes psychologists, psychiatrists, and master’s-level therapists. We ensure that our staff has the necessary training and experience to provide quality care.

My recovery experience at A Step in the Right Direction was instrumental to my finding a life free of alcohol and enjoying nearly ten years of sobriety. The luxurious setting, combined with comfort, felt like home to me in such a way that I was able to focus on my recovery journey. I worked the 12 Steps with my sponsor, attended daily meetings, and participated in our community at A Step in the Right Direction. What I found was profound healing and a lifelong community of support. Linda Butler, the founder of ASITRD, has a passion for recovery that is contagious. She empowered me to be the best version of myself sober, and I remember that to this day. Many thanks to Linda, the staff, and the incredible community of women at A Step in the Right Direction. You changed my life.
Extremely effective if you go in with a positive attitude and are serious about work on “you” to become the best you , you can possibly be. Its well maintained and classy. IOP is amazing is very beneficial . You will realize it’s everything you have hoped it would be.
Horrible experience here. Stayed for 3 months. Owner had her kids living in the same facility as the clients. When I finally decided to leave the owner told me i'd never make it because she was mad I was leaving. Again - one of the worst sober living/treatment facility.
Very luxurious and very clean. The house manager was extremely attentive to the patients every need and was always available 24 hours a day. Hard to find a weakness with this exceptionally well maintained and professionally run facility. From the point of intake the staff and director were very kind and showed a high level of concern and expertise. Very well maintained and beautifully furnished gender specific sober living homes for men and women. The homes are pet friendly, which makes a real feeling of being in your own home. The staff is very gracious and concerned, and take the extra time and effort to make the environment feel so comfortable and safe. Really very well run facilities, with just the right amount of structure and compassion.
