ABOUT NOVA VITAE TREATMENT CENTER

Nova Vitae Treatment Center, based in Woodland Hills, Calif., provides substance abuse treatment services to adults as well as being amongst the 317 (22.2 percent) California treatment centers with specially-tailored programs for teens.

Offerings include outpatient counseling, on-site detox, and intervention support. Residential treatment is not provided, but this is one of the only 200 (14 percent) centers in the state to offer inpatient-based detox.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Individuals requiring medical assistance for withdrawal symptoms may access on-site detoxification services. This center is also one of California’s only 147 (11.2 percent) with an opioid treatment program (OTP). In addition to psychotherapy, family therapy, holistic modalities, education, and guidance on 12-step principles, the clinic provides medication to alleviate withdrawal symptoms as needed.

For clients who prefer not to participate in 12-Step, Nova Vitae’s outpatient counselors utilize alternative recovery models, such as SMART Recovery. Staff also draw upon a wide swath of treatment modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and guided imagery therapy.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the facility’s website, treatment is administered by qualified therapists and counselors. In the state of California, 98.3 percent of all substance abuse treatment facilities have continuing education requirements for staff. The sole alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date awarded the staff’s level of experience and training four out of five stars.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Nova Vitae can accommodate up to 12 detox clients at a time. The center aims to provide a homelike environment by offering high-quality meals and allowing clients access to their phones and laptops. According to the center’s website, private rooms are available upon request. The single alum surveyed by Best-rehabs.com to date provided four-star rating for the facility’s cleanliness and upkeep.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The sole alum polled by Best-rehabs.com to date had a positive experience at Nova Vitae. The anonymous respondent provided four-star ratings for the center’s treatment effectiveness, connectivity during treatment, exercise & leisure activities, and family participation. Additionally, this former client agreed that the center was well-versed in the treatment of co-occurring disorders, and that the programming at this center was worth the cost. “They care about you. excelent services, i strongly recommend it,” this individual wrote.

Only holistic treatment offerings and counseling options received lower three-star ratings, though when surveyed on facility weaknesses, this alum wrote, “not sure.”

On Facebook, the facility earned five out of five stars from all 12 reviewers to date.[1] Note, the facility can manage its own page. Alumni praised the effectiveness of treatment, and representative reviewer D.Z. wrote, “Wonderful place to get treatment. Strongly recommend this clinic.” Note, many of those who left commentary appear to be employed at Nova Vitae.

On Google, the facility received a five-star rating and a one-star rating at the time of this writing.[2] The satisfied reviewer, P.K., praised the program’s effectiveness, and added, “The staff here were passionate and only cared about helping those under their roof.” The negative reviewer, S.L., seems to have been a staffer who was dissatisfied with management.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

While Best-rehabs.com has yet to receive feedback from family or friends of alumni to date, two Yelp users both provided five-star ratings regarding their loved ones’ experiences.[3] The parent of a former client expressed gratitude for the staff’s level of “caring” and “compassion,” and D.Z. added, “Friendly staff n smiling face.” Both of the reviewers under the “not recommended” header also left five out of five stars, and W.D. wrote: “For years a family member of mine struggled with addiction to opiates,” concluding, “His treatment so far has gone well and is now over 60 days sober.”

FINANCING

According to the facility’s website, the center works with some private insurance companies, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Lakeside, and Regal Group, as well as self pay.
