ABOUT CASA PALMERA
Casa Palmera in Del Mar, CA, provides residential, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization for those dealing with substance abuse, eating disorders, and co-occurring mental health disorders. Detoxification is not offered on-site.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Casa Palmera offers residential treatment that lasts a minimum of 30 days, though 60- and 90-day programming is available. The center blends evidence based treatment options with holistic programming like art therapy, acupuncture, and massage therapy.
Treatment begins with a comprehensive exam used to develop individualized treatment plans. A clinical dietician creates individualized plans for each resident.
The facility’s intensive outpatient program (IOP) meets three days a week Monday through Friday. Casa Palmera also offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP) that meets five days per week.
Casa Palmera offers a free, weekly continuing care group for alumni up to one year.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Casa Palmera’s treatment team is led by a medical director and includes master’s level psychiatrists, a clinical director, licensed care coordinators, discharge coordinators, a family program coordinator, and admissions coordinators. Nursing is offered 24/7. The center also employs a clinical nutritionist, chef, acupuncturist, yoga instructor, and registered dietician.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Casa Palmera is set on a five-acre campus just two miles away from the Pacific Ocean. The open land, gardens, and koi pond create a scenic background for walking and hiking. Clients will reside in a private room or a semi-private room that is cleaned by housekeepers. Clients will engage in beach excursions, participate in yoga lessons, and can enjoy an on-site fitness center with a climbing wall.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Two alumni gave Casa Palmera mixed reviews — particularly regarding staff. One anonymous reviewer called staff “real professionals” and gave the staff’s overall level of training and experience perfect five out of five star ratings. However, the other alum surveyed, S.B., told Best-rehabs.com: “The nursing staff is short staffed and always mixed up with your meds or dr appts or things you need… They were nice but they didn’t help.” S.B. indicated that they wouldn’t recommend the facility with two out of five stars but called the facility “nice” and “very clean.”

WHAT STAFF SAY
Though no current or former staff members have been surveyed by Best-rehabs.com to date, four reviewers gave the facility one out of five stars on Glassdoor. Employees complained about an unprofessional work environment and miscommunication with upper management. “Upper management has zero concern about their employees and are extremely invalidating…They make their employees feel incompetent and extremely undervalued,” a former employee criticized.
‘No standard training procedures exist for new employees,” wrote one anonymous reviewer.
