ABOUT CHOICES IN RECOVERY CENTER
Choices in Recovery in Vista, Calif., offers residential and outpatient services for adults dealing with substance abuse. Detoxification is also provided.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Residential treatment will last between four months to a year and includes 12-step programming, random drug screening, and one-on-one counseling. Clients will participate in weekly group counseling sessions, anger management and stress reduction education, and relapse prevention training. Legal aid assistance and educational re-entry like GED classes are provided as needed.
Outpatient treatment lasts six months and encompasses group therapy, relapse prevention, resocialization activities, and legal aid as needed.
Both programs provide aftercare and follow-up services.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The facility’s staff includes certified chemical dependence addiction counselors.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Food and transportation services are provided in the residential program. Clients in the residential program will be supervised 24 hours per day and participate in weekly activities that family members are invited to attend. For outpatient treatment, resocialization activities are provided.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Four of the five alumni reviews submitted to Best-rehabs.com at this time of writing were negative. Reviewers complained of under qualified staff and inadequate services. “Staff does not have adequate qualifications or experience to work in a rehab facility,” James wrote. T.H. called the facility “very basic and minimal accommodation.” F.U. wrote that they “wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.” Miguel simply commented, “The program was strict” and gave five-star marks for treatment effectiveness and accommodations.
The facility had mostly positive reviews on third party sites with a 4.6-star rating on Facebook based on twenty reviews. On Facebook, Ana commented in a representative review: “I am forever grateful. You provided me with tools to live life on life terms.Thank you.” Another Facebook reviewer, George, echoed Best-rehabs.com commentary. “This place is not effective and lacks properly trained and educated staff,” he wrote. On Google, the facility earned a 3.6 average rating based on eight reviews. Several commentators thanked the facility for saving their lives. “I would have died on the streets if it wasn’t for these wonderful people, wrote Levi. [2]
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
The only review submitted from a loved one to Best-rehabs.com to date was positive, with the anonymous individual giving four- or five-stars to all 15 evaluated categories. “Strong recovery plans… A very highly thought of facility,” wrote the anonymous reviewer. However, they did indicate that high costs were a drawback of the facility.
WHAT STAFF SAY
Though no current or former staff members have responded to a Best-rehabs.com poll to date, employees have the facility high marks on third-party sites. On Indeed, three reviewers gave Choices of Recovery four out of five stars. A former intake coordinator commented: “being able to welcome them in to a treatment program and give them words of hope and determination was very fulfilling.” [3]
“Working with people who struggle with drug and alcohol abuse, is life changing,” wrote one individual on Glassdoor, “to be able to be apart of someone being empowered to save their lives is amazing.” [4]
FINANCING
Free anonymous HIV/AIDs counseling referrals is provided. No financial information is provided on the facility’s website. The only individual polled to date indicated “very high costs” as a weakness of the facility.
