ABOUT PLAYA HOUSE INC.
Playa House is a private company that operates five sober-living homes for men and women around sunny Orange County, Southern California.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Playa House’s website provides very little information about its treatment offerings, other than to note that fun in sobriety is a major part of the program. However, an employee of the facility polled by Best-rehabs.com indicated that staff maintained close contact with clients’ families, so long as clients themselves had agreed to this. In addition, the reviewer gave the facility just two out of five stars for its exercise/leisure offerings. Testimonials posted on the facility’s website indicated that residents find employment during their stay at Playa House.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Playa House was founded by a husband-and-wife team with a collective 14 years of sobriety. According to a staff member polled by Best-rehabs.com, “most house managers have their CDAC,” meaning that they are certified drug and alcohol counselors. The same individual gave the facility four stars for the availability of its staff and five stars for its staff’s level of training and experience.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
The living facilities offer private and semi-private rooms — and Playa House pledges no bunk beds. The homes are family-style, with full kitchens, common areas with TVs, and gardens. The single individual polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave the facility five stars for its accommodations and its cleanliness.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Best-rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews directly from alumni of this facility, and secondary sites yielded mostly positive feedback at the time of this writing: five five-star ratings on Facebook (where the facility can manage its own page) and on Google, a single rating giving one star.[1] [2] “Big rip off they play with people sobriety. Also they charge a arm and a leg for a bed,” P.P. wrote on Google, adding that they felt the center was excessively interested in claiming insurance money. “I think you may have the wrong business. We do not charge insurance as we are not a treatment center. We are only a sober living facility,” the owner wrote in reply, also on Google.
Of the five five-star reviewers who had posted on Facebook to date, only two left accompanying commentary; in both cases, the reviewers described treatment at Playa House as life-changing. “The Playa House helped me to grow and continue to move forward in my recovery after treatment. The staff… bent over backwards to help me… They helped me to move forward with my life and take my life back,” B.M. wrote in a representative review.
WHAT STAFF SAY
The single staffer polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave positive feedback. “The staff really care about clients who are willing to do the work it takes to stay sober,” S.M. wrote, adding praise for Playa House’s well-maintained houses, but noting that there can be high turnover among both staff and clients. S.M. gave the facility five stars for its treatment effectiveness, family participation, and safety and comfort level.
FINANCING
There is currently no information provided on Playa House’s website regarding its costs, however, a staff member polled by Best-rehabs.com indicated that the facility often worked with clients’ budgetary constraints. The same individual gave the facility five out of five stars for its affordability.
