ABOUT AUTHENTIC RECOVERY CENTER
Located six miles from the beach in west Los Angeles, Authentic Recovery Center (ARC) offers a full spectrum of care for adults seeking treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring. Programming includes medical detox, residential treatment, intensive outpatient (IOP) care, family programming, and aftercare. ARC not only treats dual diagnosis, but also bases its treatment philosophy on the idea that most addictions are rooted in underlying psychological issues.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at Authentic Recovery Center (ARC) begins with a phone interview, which includes a psychological assessment and psychiatric evaluation, and those who require medical attention begin with medically-monitored detox. Clients who then opt for residential treatment typically remain on-site for at least 30 days.
Treatment includes a mix of individual counseling, experiential therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. Treatment methods combine 12-step principles with the disease model of addiction and relapse prevention. Clients learn how to identify and cope with triggers using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), anger management, and other specific therapies.
ARC’s outpatient treatment is used as a transition option for clients as they prepare to reintegrate into society. Clients experience a constantly changing series of methods based on their individual needs. Additionally, clients may remain in the outpatient program for as long as they feel necessary.
Aftercare planning is available and involves housing assistance, referrals to community support groups, legal assistance, relationship counseling, and vocational aid. The facility also offers free alumni services for life which include regular meetings and activates, crisis lines, and access to online recovery chat rooms.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Authentic Recovery Center’s treatment staff consists of physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, experiential therapists, certified substance abuse counselors, and other licensed professionals. Experiential therapists including a yoga instructor and nutritionist are also on staff.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Authentic Recovery Center accommodates up to 12 people at a time. The facility itself is homelike, with well-appointed common areas and a state-of-the-art kitchen. Both private and semi-private rooms are available, and some bathrooms feature whirlpool tubs. Outdoor sitting areas are also available for relaxation and recreation.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
At the time of this writing, Best-rehabs.com has received feedback from five former clients of ARC. The feedback was mixed. For treatment effectiveness, the facility earned one one-, three-, and three five-out-of-five star reviews.
While many of the alumni praised the staff members, there is some disagreement about the use of the 12 steps. Some alumni enjoyed the 12 step approach, such as an anonymous alum who wrote: “good immersement with twelve step program. However, alum J.K. wrote: “This place is awful it looks nice but they just put you through 12 step meetings.”
Praise elsewhere online is mostly positive to date. On Google, Authentic Recovery Center received two five-out-of-five star reviews. On Yelp, reviews were majorly split: five reviewers gave five out of five stars, while five other reviewers gave just one out of five stars. On Authenticity Recovery Center’s Facebook page, which the center can manage, 32 Facebook reviewers all awarded the facility five out of five stars.
Alumni on these secondary sources praised the staff, treatment models, and professional environment. Alum Alexys wrote on Yelp: “The continued love and support I’m still receiving from ARC lets me know that I always have a support system to help guide me through tough times,” and Tony wrote on Facebook: “I’ve made friends that’ll last a lifetime, and more importantly got help to better myself through this program… I was able to really get myself to love ME again.”

At the time of this writing, three loved ones submitted reviews of ARC to Best-rehabs.com. The feedback was positive.
Loved ones gave five out of five stars for accommodations, meals and nutrition, and facility cleanliness. Affordability was given a three, four, and five out of five star review respectively.
The loved ones didn’t agree about the treatment effectiveness of the program. Two gave five stars while one gave only two stars for this category.
FINANCING
Treatment at ARC is typically priced at $28,500 per month. The center’s programs are covered by in-network providers Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, and Cigna. ARC works with most other major insurance providers as well and offers an online insurance verification form. It does not accept Medicare/Medicaid or Medi-Cal.
