A chemical dependency (alcohol/drug) problem is a complex, multifaceted disease which affects the whole person. A chemical dependency problem is democratic; it does not respect age, sex, race, creed, national origin, education, intellectual level, socio-economic group, or preference. It may disrupt a person’s physical, psychological, interpersonal, emotional, and spiritual life. It can be diagnosed through behavior changes and family problems: Chemical dependency affects biological, social, vocational, and educational interactions and thus can disrupt such environments.
ABOUT TWIN TOWN MISSION VIEJO
Twin Town treatment centers have been providing outpatient services to adolescents and adults struggling with chemical dependency for 25 years. One of six facilities in Southern California, the treatment center in Mission Viejo also serves the Orange County communities of Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Beach, Irvine, Lake Forrest, San Clemente, and San Juan Capistrano. Although Twin Town of Mission Viejo does not offer detoxification services, the facility coordinates with affiliated physicians to provide this service. The facility provides three levels of outpatient care: day treatment, an intensive outpatient (IOP) program, and continuing care.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, clients undergo an initial, no-cost medical screening and psychosocial assessment to determine the appropriate level of care. Twin Town adheres to the disease model of addiction and offers abstinence-based treatment that combines cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with 12-step principles and practices to modify destructive behavior and promote lasting sobriety.
Day treatment requires eight hours of programming per day, up to six days per week, while the IOP offers three hours of treatment per day, up to six days per week. Clients who successfully complete the IOP may then take advantage of the continuing care service, which meets twice a week for four months. Twin Town also boasts an active alumni program, which meets monthly.
To assist loved ones in the treatment process, the facility includes a family education program, as well as family codependency counseling. Twin Town of Mission Viejo also offers a specialized, 10-session relapse track for former clients who have relapsed since graduating, as well as an alcohol and drug education program for clients who require special coordination and compliance with the criminal justice system or employers. This 10-hour educational program also includes regular alcohol and drug urinalysis testing.
