ABOUT PEAK VISTA – HEALTH CENTERS AT ACADEMY
Peak Vista Community Health Centers is a non-profit organization that provides medical, dental, and behavioral health services to people of all ages throughout Colorado’s Pikes Peak and East Central Plains regions. Peak Vista Health Centers at Academy, one of Peak Vista’s 26 locations, offers a wide range of services including outpatient programs to treat adults seeking treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. The center also provides access to sober living facilities. Detox is not available on-site.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at Peak Vista Health Centers at Academy begins with a referral. Clients are self-referred or referred from another facility. They participate in an assessment to determine their needs and treatment approach.
Treatment consists of counseling, therapy, wellness programs, educational courses, and substance abuse treatment. Clients may be referred to other facilities for specialized treatment options. Clients participate in a combination of all of these methods.
Clients focus on counseling to address their behavioral health concerns. Clients routinely meet with counselors to address specific concerns and learn coping strategies. Each client is also enrolled in multiple therapy methods.
In addition to counseling and therapy, clients participate in educational courses to learn more about their behavioral concerns. These programs also teach clients sober living skills and coping methods.
Clients also receive employment and career counseling. Clients work with counselors to learn specific job skills, and to find suitable work in the community. They also participate in ongoing counseling to help them keep their jobs.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Peak Vista Health Centers at Academy has a staff to client ratio of 1:3. The treatment team includes a psychiatrist, a registered dietitian, therapists, and a certified addiction counselor. Clients also work with employment counselors and wellness experts to improve their physical condition and to find employment.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Peak Vista Health Centers at Academy does not offer residential inpatient treatment, but sober living accommodations are available for up to 29 individuals. The two individuals polled by Best-rehabs.com to date on Peak Vista’s accommodations and amenities gave a three out of five star rating and a five out of five star rating.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
At this time, only one former client has submitted a review to Best-rehabs.com about Peak Vista. Alum Karen provided a three out of five star rating for treatment effectiveness, and described the counselors as “very good people that cared.”
The alum provided four out of five star ratings for its holistic offerings, cleanliness, affordability, and the staff’s level of experience; however, the alum provided only two out of five stars for the facility’s exercise and leisure options, connectivity, and available counseling options.
Although she felt that the treatment she received helped, she characterized it as “basic.” “They did not offer the therapy that I needed… I feel that I didn’t get as much as I could’ve gotten if I went somewhere else. I think I could have gone somewhere better…” she wrote.
On Yelp, the facility earned 1.65 out of five stars from 26 reviews at the time of this writing.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
At this time, Best-rehabs.com has collected only one review from the loved one of a client. The anonymous respondent reported a positive experience overall, providing a five out of five star rating for the program’s counseling, exercise options, mental health treatment, and family involvement. “Great facility. Staff support and counseling were wonderful,” they wrote.
The loved one provided three out of five star ratings or lower for the facility’s holistic offerings, pricing, cleanliness, and aftercare options.
FINANCING
Health Centers at Academy accepts a wide range of private insurance options. However, the program offers self-pay options for those that qualify without insurance or full coverage. The facility also accepts Medicaid and Medicare, CICP and sliding scale payment options, CHIP, and ACO.
