ABOUT BOARDPREP RECOVERY CENTER

Located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Tampa, Fla., BoardPrep Recovery Center offers a full continuum of treatment services for adults struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring psychiatric disorders. Services include both inpatient and outpatient options. According to the facility’s website, BoardPrep will also arrange for hospitalization if a client requires medical attention during the detoxification period.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to BoardPrep Recovery Center’s website, clients undergo a comprehensive assessment while family members participate in their own orientation. From there, an initial treatment plan is drafted, and clients who opt for inpatient care are paired with a same-gender “buddy” who is responsible for providing information and support during the first few days of treatment.

Inpatient treatment is typically 30, 60, or 90 days in duration. During that time, clients participate in a program that is guided by 12-step principles and includes a minimum of 21 clinical service hours per week. BoardPrep uses a variety of clinical modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and transcranial magnetic stimulation. Clients engage in individual, group, and family therapy, as well as “sober fun” activities on a weekly basis.

Outpatient care is similar. Depending upon the needs of the client, treatment occurs over the course of three to four days per week in either a group or one-on-one setting. Clients are encouraged to attend daily 12-step meetings, and in-home family therapy sessions are also available.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

BoardPrep maintains a 1:5 staff-to-client ratio. BoardPrep Recovery Center’s website notes the treatment team includes two consulting psychiatrists, plus licensed social workers, licensed mental health counselors, master’s level therapists, and multiple recovery support specialists.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

BoardPrep Recovery Center’s website indicates Inpatient clients reside in modest, gender-exclusive housing that can accommodate up to 15 people. Most bedrooms are shared, but some private rooms are available upon request. Clients are responsible for their own food shopping and meal preparation. Residential facilities are within close proximity to gyms, grocery stores, and local 12-step meetings.

BoardPrep Recovery Center Reviews

This was the worst treatment center I have ever attended. They are more interested in your bank account than helping you. One of the “therapists” is downright unprofessional. Do not waste your time or money!!!
I was given a charity bed at Board Prep, and during my short stay, they treated me like I was v subhuman. They blatantly disregarded my safety, and I believe it was because I wasn't paying. They wanted me and another patient to essentially babysit another patient, staying that they didn't have enough staff to watch her. When this very mentally ill person accused me of controlling of the weather and threatened to hurt me, I left. They didn't care about my well-being at all.
They say you'll probably be friends forever with people you end up in a lifeboat with. So far that has been the case with the friends and staff I met at Boardprep Recovery. 3 years #cleanandsober #gratefulrecoveringaddict #friendofbill
I liked that I could talk to my counselor several times a week, not just 1 session a week like the lest place I went to. Since she worked in the evening and did not have a high caseload she had plenty of time for me. #real patient #thank you boardprep
They advocated for me to keep my job with my employer. Without their help I would have lost my career.
